I'd asked Tammy @ Tamco paint a few years ago & she said they'd do it. Of course need something to match it to.
I don't get on FB much anymore but she was always posting on Tamco's page. So much so I figured she had some interest in or owned the co. I'd think TCP Global (https://www.autocolorlibrary.com/) would do it too. Any smaller company that you could convince there'd be some residual business.
I believe she was, hence the "Tam"co name. There was a falling out with one of her cohorts and she left.
Nah im not sayin use the one on the right at all...im just sayin in 10min i could make either one 10 different shades with number of coats...psi...overlap or with tinting What im sayin is with out knowing what undercoat they used on the car in pic ..using the card/formula on the left which obviously is very close if not dead nuts...youre still takin a shot in the dark.... You would have to use that formula..on the left..sprayed over a grey...rose...or green undercoat I wouldnt use white or black myself White will cover in 3 cts no problem...but will brighten it up ALOT black will give it that dingy look but will honestly NEVER cover..but i would say an easy 6 cts...more material..longer and more cts in the booth = more dirt and more film thickness....if the rose grey or green dont work try the black or white as last resort Base clear vs urethane....ight so ive argued this more times thatln i care too but SINGLE STAGE URETHANE IS TGE ONLY WAY TO GO ON SOLID COLORS!!!!...... longevity is pure myth...if youre not buy the absolutely best clears and using their base and their reducers you are asking for trouble period....so expect to spend 4k on materials.......OR spend 1k for a single stage and all components....then you have the ability to be in and out of the booth 2cts e if you like....cleaner job....will last as long as youll need it to and then some...these cars dont sit in parking lots daily anymore rite??? NASON FULTHANE is my suggestion...any paint guy thst half ass knows what hes doin can tint it to match whatever you bring him that you found youre happy with
Ryan, I have a drivers side sport mirror that is supposed to be off a GSX a long tome ago. Mirror date is 2-DMI-0 Car was totaled and some parts saved. If you want me to send the mirror housing I can do that. It has chips and nicks and I do not see any other color. I guess I could wet sand a spot and see if anything appears. Let know if I can help. Nelson .
Anyone ever held the old 1:24 GSX model up to a correct or original Q-Q car? I thought they pretty much nailed it.
Thanks for the input Ethan! What about on the metallics? These old cars didn't have a lot of metallic in the paint to being with as compared to newer cars. I can't imagine the factory was using different color primers for different comor top coats. Seems like the ones I've seen were all the reddish type primer
Big thank you to CJay for checking the paint sample I sent him to see if it matched up to his original paint GSX. Definitely looks like a match and he said it’s dead on. From a few feet away
I went over to Ryan's house and picked up the hood for some much needed TLC. The body shop that did the work years ago must have worked for the state highway dept. They knew how to pave over the damage. With some work and patience the damage will look lots better.
I spent some time on the hood this week. Tried to get the punch marks out but they were too sharp, and deep.Keep in mind that this is a double wall panel , and I did not cut the underside. Next I will correct the hole for the hood tach. luckily it was cut under size.
Spent some more time on the hood this week. The hole for the hood tach was cleaned up. Finished stripping the hood, and epoxy primed it. My part of this project is done!
