...And never before has it been so easy to reach other people to spread information. For better or worse, social media amplifies the smaller voices and other, louder voices get lost in the din. We hear both the small ones that needed to he heard and the small ones that shouldn’t. Telling the difference is the challenge.

A large segment of society does not understand that there is a major difference between research and collecting information that supports it's particular beliefs. Unfortunately, there is not enough of the former going on now, and way too much of the latter.

Too much $$ to be made exploiting fears rather than providing access to ideas and information. That's why.

A spell check serves to refute your claim of time spent in school.

Indeed. I'm not sure if that entire post is meant as satire or not, but if not the entire argument becomes pretty moot. It would seem spelling/English/grammar class was time well wasted as well.

But then aferica and comblus were never my strong points. All that aside, don't even get me started on the Eroupens. Savages I tell ya....

If not for spell check and knowing how and when to use it I'd seem like a complete illiterate idiot

I think it's a lot less divided than the media makes it seem. Obviously Facebook and Twitter and all those cesspools of garbage are just a tumor on society as a whole, and the media capitalizes on that easily. Too often you see some idiot saying something extremely controversial, and a couple people agreeing and suddenly Buzzfeed has an article about how "Twitter thinks white people are nazis" or some completely hyperbolic statement designed to get as many people on that excuse for a news website as possible. The same thing goes for the rest of the political spectrum. On the left some people think conservatives in large are trying desperately to deport any and all Mexicans or actively trying to be horrible people for the sake of it, and on the right some people think that liberals are destroying the country pushing agendas and calling everybody racists, sexists, nazis, yadda yadda yadda. Obviously I'm oversimplifying a very complex issue but I think the vast majority of people have a lot more in common than they think. People generally want the same things, but disagree on how to get there. If people were to talk it out more and seek to understand each others opinions I like to think that there would be a lot more unity among the opposite sides of the political spectrum.

The thing with the internet now, and more specifically recently with COVID and all, is that all these fringe ideologies can become a lot more widely seen and heard than they would have any right to be regularly. Pre-internet, anybody saying that 5G or whatever new radio technology is going to kill you and develop brain tumors, whatever it may be, would probably get laughed at and called an idiot. Now that group of idiots can get together online and start spewing garbage at each other endlessly without having their ideas challenged, and the cycle continues. This cycle doesn't just end with conspiracy theories, it's the same with any sort of forum or social media circle where people all have the same ideas. Eventually it gets to the point where people think "how could I be wrong about this?" and then when their views do get challenged, they call the other person an idiot or whatever colourful word comes to mind because they believe so fervently that they're right.

On a large scale, this is what's happening now in politics in my opinion. People see too much of the fringe group of crazies and generalize entire political groups based on the small group of idiots. Thank the media and social media for elevating these idiots. It's human nature to want to feel superior to your opponents, and it's been made way too easy to feel that way. I hope people can figure out what's going on here and start relating to people more than hating them. Ultimately like I said, we all have a lot more in common than we all may think.

The problem, though, is presuming everyone is aware of the extreme. If you give the general group the benefit of the doubt, and the group does too, then the fringe writes the policy. They’ll ask for an inch here and another there, and no one says ‘no’ so they keep going. They may not get their mile, but you’ll have hell getting back what they did take once you realize how far they’ve gone. You never hear that the government has eliminated a ‘czar’ or program nor closed a department.

One thing to remember when dealing with social media driven conspiracies or long-winded and convoluted "explanations"; - I believe it's a version of Occam's Razor, "Never attribute to malice that which can be accomplished with sheer stupidity."
Kind of puts a lot of what's been going on into a very clear perspective.

2700 tons of ammonium nitrate, in one building, with no sense of urgency or special care, for six years. I’d vote ‘stupidity’. But I’m sure there are some who’ll be convinced this was the sinister equivalent of a really, really long fuse.

The Apostle Paul wrote it down but inspired by the creator God/ Jesus ! :)

    2 Timothy 3;16........ God inspired;)

1 Corinthians 2:14-16....The things of God are foolishness....finishing reading for yourself

2 Peter 1:21 For prophecy (preaching God's word) never had its origin in the human will, but prophets (speaker of God's word), though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

" But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. "

So what it means is if we backbite each other we get nowhere....come to common ground/ I prefer the word Truth !
Some think our common ground is our hobby/ Not really! When push comes to shove/ We will revert to our beliefs! Regardless of what they maybe?

Ecclesiastes 10:2 The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.

By your last reply? it is apparent you didn't finish reading these verses?
"1 Corinthians 2:14-16....The things of God are foolishness....finishing reading for yourself'

The things of God are foolishness to those who are perishing They cannot understand them! they make no sense because they are spiritually discerned by the power of God, but we who are in Christ have the mind of Jesus by the power of Christ (Godly understanding) (paraphrased)
    Hope this helps you, Jay?

I posted the wrong book of Corinthians it is the 1st book not the 2nd book, I have corrected my mistake..........
    1 Corinthians 2:14-16
    New International Version

14 The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15 The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments, 16 for,

“Who has known the mind of the Lord
    so as to instruct him?”

But we have the mind of Christ.

Since retiring from my real job I have been contracted to provide security for college campuses etc. It boggles the mind of someone my age how information gets reformulated to serve a narrative. With very little research I have learned that this has bee going on for quite some time and why our kids seem to be on a different planet than us when we try to have any relevant conversation. Hence my statement why can't we agree to disagree. History in the new world we live in is irrelevant so looking at the past for comparison serves no purpose in the mind of the NEW generation! The riots or demonstrations for those being politically correct will continue as long as people do not believe in or have any ethics or values! Eventually, someone has to pay the bill as nothing is for free!!

Obviously you don't need nor want to know?
And you can do whatever you want apparently?

You stand-out as the perfect example of the verses from that older than the 2,000-year-old book and those particular verses!

CONGRATS ON THAT ACHEVIEMENT !:rolleyes:
