Well look at it this way. He got national exposure on both his cars for a single auction fee, plus all hype. Most Buick sites are talking about the 2 stage cars for sale. Wouldn't have received as much exposure with a single car. Cheaper than an add in trader online. He even has his contact info listed. Throw a high reserve on it, if it makes it great, but if not I'm sure he will get some phone calls. Tony

    Right on Tony!

He may also mistakenly believe (like many people who don't sell cars on ebay) that he as to pay a % of the sales price if the cars sell. If that is the case, then he may be doing exactly as Tony as mentioned above.

I emailed him asking him why 1 auction versus two, but no response yet. Course, I am not actually expecting an answer.

They figured that they would be able to sell both to a Buick collector as a pair. But, with the reserve not met they will be running them seperate. A lot of people showed an interest in the two being sold seperate.

Closed at $151,100. The last few seconds were a real letdown. I was expecting the price to run up a bit in the last remaining seconds. On to the re list!

I too am suspecting this is similar to other auctions we have seen . The ghost bidders that always seem to know just when to stop bidding .

I think you guys just like a little controversy! :boring:

Time will tell it is real or not, I think it is, the owner seemed pretty straight up to me. He has (had) several other Buicks, including two 34's and a 29, or at least he did in the 2003 Buick Bugle registry. :TU:

    controversy??????

Chris, I wasn't born yesterday. Just because someone has a different view on things doesn't mean were trying to make trouble, opinions are like belly buttons. As you know there is plenty of people out there dealing these cars now, they are misrepresenting them, they get there friends to bid them up,lies about rust, lies about matchings#Why do they do it,because the value of the car go's up along with the balance of there bank account. WAY to many people trying to make money by flipping these cars that think there experts. Its getting hard to trust anyone these days.I've been involved with buicks for 25 years, helped start car clubs and put on buick only drag racing, helped many buick people find parts, building engines, transmissions for people.Sorry Chris but people use to be alot better to deal with when these cars weren't worth that much. Its just another hobby the rich will only be able to afford soon :boring: It is not the first time any of us that have been around for awhile have seen a car get bid up on e-bay to create hipe to get exposure, two cars 1 auction :Do No: lighten up ITS ONLY A OPINION not created to make people upset.Chris

    opinions

Do you guys really think these prices are out of line? I've been to several auctions and seeing what the other brands(chevelles, camaros, mopars) are selling for now and have been selling for in the last few years and in my opnion aren't as nice or as well built as the Buicks aswell as the low production numbers for the Buicks it only seems they are still low in comparison. Also I wish they were still 8 or 10 k to buy like they were 10 years ago but if the land and real estate were as cheap now as then I would buy a bunch of it aswell. Supply and demand aswell as other investments not being worth investing in presently also becomes a factor. Both these cars look very nice and if one is going to buy them at those prices I am sure there has been some on site inspections taking place . bill

I also felt he was "feeling out" the market. I sent him an email asking for more pics of both cars three days before the auction ended, and he replied that he did take more pics and that he would send them to me, and that he would seperate the cars if the reserve wasn't met. I never got any pics. If you ask me, the description and pics in the auction were very poor considering the amount of money that is being discussed. If he were serious about selling both cars in that auction, he would have done a better job lising them, and responding to bidders request. I'm sure Chris will follow these cars somehow and let us all know!!

I agree totally Bill! They seem to be a bargain compared to the other brands. For all the reasons you listed. I was told an X restored by a well known Buick restorer, recently sold privately for 250K. White, 4-speed, Stage 1 low optioned car. I believe the source. A gentlemen very close to the deal. A Kleiner restored car. Prices will be going up from here on the Buicks.

    I agree

I have no problem with the worth of these cars I was just making an observation on the way he is going about selling them and the way the bidding went. When the bid was at $150,000 you throw a $100 at it to see if that sets it over the reserve. When your talking that kinda money a $100 is nothing,By selling these cars together you have eliminated many buyers, the 71 is still do able by many people but group it in with the X and forget it. The discription is very vague and lacking.Hardly any pic's.Look at the bid history of the bidders, the one guy looks like he deals in nothing but paintings (art) the other guy has a LS6 under his belt.Hey I might be wrong but the whole thing looks fishy.......Chris
