I really think we should all focus our attention on 1 great event. With egos clashing, this may be impossible. We have certain people that are very well educated in Buicks and how to organize, but they want to be the head man. Like Yards said, is one better than another? I don't really know. Is one big one that is well orgainzed better than 2 or 3? I think so.
The car is ultra cool, standard wheels/tires, Stage 1, 3 speed manual, unusual color combo (code 48 Sherwood Green, Brown interior, and a Sandlewood (Tan) top), no radio, and a great restoration. Definitely one of my most favorite Buicks ever!
And for all those that didn't make it...yes the event is not as big as it was in the past but it is still a great place to see old Buick friends and also make new ones. The weather on Friday and Saturday was great, the track was hooking, and the Buicks were cool.

Personally, I see no problem with 2 events. Not everyone has May vacation time available. Others have issues in August. Either of the events is definitely worth the time and effort to attend. Sure it sucks that both events are fairly close and easternly oriented (although that works out well for some of us :Brow: ) but they are where they are and the folks that organize both of them do the best they can. We drove 2 cars to BG which is roughly 170 miles one way. Considering the rise in fuel costs it really wasn't that bad cost wise. If I can get away in August I will probably drive to Columbus as well. Having more than one organization of Buick fanatics is probably never going to change and if it did get down to one they still couldn't please everyone (Imagine a one party system in politics, wouldn't that be a nightmare). Just go to the one you can arrange the time for and enjoy the fellowship of other Buick lovers.
I'm not in agreement there. With one event, if it were only in the spring, some people wouldn't be able to attend. Same for the late summer event. We can support 2 events IF WE GET THE PEOPLE TO COME! And I'd certainly put my popcycle stand across the street from another if the volume of customers was there - like the high concentration of Buick racers in the Northeast. If a Nationals were held in Texas or Atlanta or Kansas there would be very few attendees.

I know there might be a conflict with a date for some people coming to a Buick event, but I think some people are always looking for excuses not to attend things. Whether it's money, work or family related. The ones who really want to attend will come. Of course there are a few exceptions. What I am afraid of is that the events are going to get so small that they are not worth doing. When I was at the 25th GS Nats a few years back it was a great time. People and cars were everywhere. However, I think from that year on, it has started a downward spin and it will only get worse as time goes on. I have not attended the other events over the last couple years. I know the Indy event didn't do well and the BPG events are not as large as I had hoped for. Our cars are all getting very, very old now. GN's and GS's are a thing of the past. We basically have 1 company keeping us in the performance field and a couple more helping us restore them. Young kids don't even know what my 71 or my Rivs are and most don't care. We once claimed speed made these cars appealing, but now some 4 cyl. cars can almost run with a stock BBB. Other small V8's will outperform a stock BBB. I love my Buicks. I know people on this board do to. But we're dinosaurs and I just see the hobby we love getting smaller with time. I don't think it can sustain more than 1 event in the future and we should start plannning now. At least have 2 events spread out over the country more. Having them a few hundred miles apart to me doesn't make much sense. Don't come down my way though. The Buicks at Bristol events didn't turn out nothing at all. People down here just don't like Buicks like you guys up north. Oh by the way Yardley, I am not saying smaller gatherings like yours also need to be done away with. What you started a couple years back has turned out great. Keep up the good work. I would like to show up some day, but my southern speech would stick out like a sore thumb. LOL
Planed on attending the event for a year. Almost nothing was going to keep me away. Been attending since 1993. The news I got on the day I was going to leave made me tone down a little, then bad luck hit. I reported what I lost to the track people and found out that I was not the only one that "lost" something. I can maybe understand what I lost did not get turned in, but some of the other items.......... All I can say is what comes around goes around. Glad to be able to put some faces to the names on this board. I for one will be attending the avent until it's end or where they may move it to.

I must say Scott Roys car had to be one of the prettiest cars I've seen in a looong time, and runnin 11.60s at 4100#s very impressive. GORGEOUS car scott.
I was a first timer in BG this year and enjoyed the event however I was dissapointed that there were so few V8 cars especially 68-69. Some very nice 70-72 cars however. I chalked the low turnout up to the weather as it really wasn't that nice until Friday afternoon.
We went for the 20th time and had a great time!!! There were amzinigly fast cars there this year, that's for sure. Attendance was down but that will be the case at many events because of gas price$... example: I'm watching the NHRA race on TV right now from Bristol where you can see that the stands there look to be 1/3 empty.
