Over 15yrs ago, I acquired these 2 slabs of granite(?) marble(?), for free from a GNC factory that I worked at for a couple years. GNC HQ in Greenville SC closed down the plant here in Fargo, and those employees that remained for the shutdown, were allowed to relieve the plant of certain items that were not worth trucking to SC. I didn't know what I was going to do with these things, and I've done nothing but move them 4 or 5 times whenever we've moved. No more... or maybe one last time. These things are 18" x 16" and 3" thick. I put them on a scale a long time ago, and they are around 70lbs each, I believe. Their original use was as a base for small laboratory scales, for stability. My wife wants nothing to do with them. Anyone have any ideas of a use for these things? I don't even know how I would dispose of them, other than hauling them to the landfill. :Do No:

Too bad your wife doesn't like them, could have made nice table tops for a couple of matching end tables!

Do like everyone else, stick them on ebay!!!!

I have thought about putting them in the back of my truck in the winter, but I have 4wd, and I wouldn't want them sliding around back there either... :puzzled:

I think they might be a little top-heavy for an end table. :error:

See if a local school art or science teacher wants them.

Or you could use it as a hot pad, heat it up and use it to keep bread warm. Only 70 lbs? Anchor? mix epoxy on it? hide a key under it? Mouse trap?

    Hurricane strength paper weights.

They would make great stepping stones in a garden.

I know that's what my wife would use them for.

I did suggest that at one time.

The school science dept might be a place to check out.

I could always leave them behind in a corner of the garage...

    Pastry insert?

Sliced, and placed into a big counter top for working pastry. That icy cold surface they always want us to have when rolling out or working on various kinds of dough.

Finding the artisan to create this and the pastry chef to use it poses yet another conundrum.

And David, if don't really want them, they could be stepping stones in the garden of the house you are moving out of......

    Ear rings for the wife?

    Home protection?

    Cruise control for the GS?

    Pizza Stones?

Trick or treat give-a-aways. (see Charlies Brown for further details.)

    Endless potential, I'd say.

Engrave your wife's name into one and tell her your saving it just in case......
Then tell her you want to start building that 455 you've been waiting to build. :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow: :Brow:

I'm leaning toward taking the easy way out. Move a little dirt in the flower garden, drop 'em in, and call them stepping stones. Here, not at the new house...
