The thing about the Corvairs is *weight*...or lack of it. The flat-6 isn't a screamer straight out of the box, but it only has to move around a little over a ton...and if can't catch you on the straight, it WILL do it in the corner. We currently have a Stage 1 Yenko Corvair (they all got COPO suspension/handling pieces from the factory) and it's a fun around town car, but would probably only run 15s...but we just sold a Stage V, that was one mean SOB. Would probably handle on par or better than our C5, had 300hp, and only weighed about 2000 pounds...teeny-tiny powerband, but was fun here in the hills/curves of the Ozark mountains.

As for the Yenko Vega, I've got a road test or two from back in the day, and I believe they ran mid-high 14s in the Motor Trend road test in street trim...we've got a red hatchback that is awaiting restoration.

Has anyone ever brought an AMC Rebel Machine to participate in the PSMCDR?
Here are a couple of others that would be kinda neat to see.

64-65 426 street wedge (365 hp) 4 spd powered car
    1970 sport fury 440-6pack.

would love to see more 68 H/O as has been mentioned. Too bad I don't have unlimited funds as I would bring one.

Also like was mentioned a 74 GTO, but with the camper option. Now that would be cool. Take a trip down the track, pull into the pits, pop open the hatch, put up the camper and tailgate. :TU:

Cougar Eliminators would be cool also. A buddy here locally had a yellow 70 years ago. He sold it and used that money as a down payment on his house. I recently found a grabber blue 70 Cougar Eliminator with a Boss 302. Wish I had the room for it because it would have been mine.

    What about a 69 T/A?

Oh and the recommendation for a fuelie 57 or 58 Bonnie, good luck. Talk about rare. I had no idea until a convertible recently showed up at the local cruise in Downers Grove. Buddy (same guy with had the cougar) was giving me a spin in his 68 GTO before we were going to head to his place. Talk about good eyes, he has a sense for Pontiacs. We IMMEDIATELY pulled over and started drooling all other this black convertible. The owner soon showed up and several of us had gathered and were talking to this guy. it was a 57, one of something like 12 built and I believe 8 known to exist. Big ole plenum covering the Rochester mechanical fuelie setup which is essentially just like the corvette setup. Too bad it was like 9pm and dark which made it hard to see the car, but it was still veeeery nice nonetheless. And the owner calmly says, yeah this is one of several cars I have. And then quickly listed off several highly desirable and rare cars like Caddy's, Lincoln's etc from the era.

What about a 73 GTX? There is a guy who has one locally, I pass it on occasion. green, black buckets, auto on the column.

And while there has been a 68 RamRod and a 70 W-31, I don't believe there has been a 69 version. I'm planning to change that this year. In fact I just brought the car over to my new place yesterday. She doesn't like 18 degree temps though, but being able to drive my car into and out of the trailer was a nice change. Too many times I've had to push non running vehicles around.

I would like to see, 1971 Boss 351 Mustang, 1966 Buick GS (4speed) 1968 or 69 W30 442,1968 or 1969 GS Stage One,1967 Shelby 500,1965 Z16 Chevelle, and Brad Rising in my rear view mirror :Brow: There will be a 1968 Hurst Olds there in 2006. It,s in my garage now collecting parts. I want to "take over" the fastest Olds title :TU: And I think it,s the right car for the job! Oh and also Dave,s 66 442 :3gears: And also a 1973 SD Formula (I hear there,s one in the works) Just a rumor can,t confirm  And a 1970 Monte SS would be kinda cool :bglasses:

    Missing Muscle

I was thinking of L-79 cars. I have been eyeing a Malibu with one. The other ones I can think of is 326/350 HO Firebirds, 428 HO Grand Prix, SS 454 Monte Carlo and a SS 396 L89 car vintage 1970.

I will be bringing a '70 4sp RA IV T/A this year. Only the glasgo's had tried that once. And it was not a real one. This is one of six blue 4spd cars.

I thought a Boss 351 ran this fall? I liked the idea of a 427 Comet/Fairlane. Dan has told me they were legal and I did some work on the subject but the exhuast manifolds seem to kill it off and eventually stopped me in my tracks.

Mike Welsch consistantly ran a black '70 AMX but unfortunately he passed away last year. His car ran 13.40/50's consistantly. He was my Judge's first pairing.

Here's one I have not seen a Rebel Machine.

I was reading through the posts and was wondering how you'd feel about a four door hemi fury or whatever the mopar it was that I read in muscle car review years ago. Supposedly there were like 2 made. Certainly with the Hemi being factory installed, it would have to qualify as a muscle car. Or not?

Ken: Big Daddy Don Garlits owns one of those 4dr Hemi Belvederes. Not sure if it's a 4 speed. Regardless, it has 4 doors. It's NOT allowed. Cool car anyway you look at it. I'd rather have one of those than a Corvair anyday! :Brow: :moonu:

Mark, just so the restoration police dont lead me away in handcuffs, while the 70 TA i had was not an original RA 4 car,it was converted at Knafels in 1971,using the original block, and was a real TA ,with 11000 original miles.I wish i still had it.Anybody know where its at? :Do No:

    Missing T/A

Sorry about the confusion John, I did not mean to infer it was fake T/A. :Dou: I knew it was a real T/A, just not an original RAIV. I sent my friend out to look at it when the guy you sold it to was selling. I had him speak to you first.

Sorry it is missing. But I did hear about that car a few months ago. I thought he said PA was its location now. I will follow up and see if it is around. I will let you know.

John if you want one to redue I think my buddy is waffling about his RAIV. Needs a resto, but is all there and PHS'd.

Have we ever seen a Formula S Cuda?

A guy over in Armada has five Machines. I will have to convince him to come out and play with us. That will take one off the list.

My dentist still has a 1974 Super Duty Formula. Not a T/A, a Formula. Much rarer than the 74 Super Duty Trans Am's I understand. I know he has considered selling that as well. If anyone is interested, I can try getting in touch with him.

Also, I have a buddy currently putting fresh paint on a 70 Challenger RT/SE 440 4bbl car. He will be selling it when complete. Possibly ebay, unless someone makes him sell with an offer he can't refuse.
