It came up really fast. A lot of people went to work today because, at least in Raleigh, there was nothing on the ground until 12 noon when it started. Before they could get off work, the roads were covered and we are now in an Atlanta situation with gridlock and cars being left in the road. ---------- Post added at 02:07 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:05 PM ---------- Top is up!
Timing is everything. Here in Atlanta we haven't had a "Snowjam" since 1982. I've heard a lot of stuff about we should have snow tires and be better prepared. If I bought snow tires (not available locally) I would have dry rotted 3 sets between real needs over 32 years. This is the south and people come here to get away from snow tires.
I just came in from clearing 8in of snow and I found this on line thinking it Might be help fullou: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/brochures/owlie-winter.pdf
Let this be a lesson to you southerners, you know who you are! I clearly remember many comments about how nice it was down there when us northerners were getting hammered. Mother Nature listened and I put a hex on you for rubbing our nose in it so to speak.:moonu:
It's melting today in St Louis and we are looking to the high 50's this coming week but first we will have another shot of 1 to 3" of fresh powder
4 inches of snow last night. Two inches fell in 30 minutes. Including last week's snow; That's six years worth of snow for Birmingham Alabama
We have had the coldest, most miserable winter since 1985. 80* this weekend, though.Good riddance, winter!
Old Man Winter finally ran out of Viagra here in Minnesota. The weather trend indicates that we are finally out of the icebox and heading towards a big thaw next week. I've already laid down about 50 lbs of salt on the driveway to help it out. As soon as I get clean dry pavement...I take the tranny out and replace it along with motor mounts, tranny mount, starter, steering gear, steering pump, ps hoses, etc...etc...etc....:dollar::dollar::dollar:
Over 12 inches of snow today. Stopped for 2 hours. Then rained hard for about 5 hours. And now its turned back to snow. We are supposed to get 6 more inches by 4AM. Then more snow Saturday. There is no places left to push the snow to. Forgot to mention the Thunder and Lightning show around 6 PM.
We have made a nice comeback. Today we start a 3 day classic car show in conjunction with the annual International Car Show.
Aren't you a friend of Bobby Bennet? If you remember I bought a 78 Z28 4 speed from him a few years ago. If so, how is he doing? If you see him tell him I said hello. Sold it a while back, but believe it is still in this area. Had a lot of fun driving that car.
Yes, I know Mr. Maybe. He currently has a low mileage original 1974 L82 Vette that he is going to sell. He keeps nice cars, drives them very little, sells them at a loss, and then buys another ---just like me.
