The vin has Buick on it so it may well be stamped wrong. When you get the car look at the cowl tag and title #s. A closer look at the pics tells me the engine is not a 300/340. Looks like a 350 or big block.

got the car to the shop finally. looked at the numbers on the door jamb cowl and title. everything matched up. there running the number on the motor to see if it matches. they did a vin search anf they said its a special v8. the car is actually in decent shape considering I paid 1500 for it. trunk frame floor and everything looks real nice. gonna need quarters and door skins. not a whole lot of plastic in it believe it or not.

other than the front fenders and hood being 66, I believe there is a good chance the car started out as a GS 340 - the only Special 2 door hardtop available in 67 was the Special Deluxe which would have an upgraded interior from the base interior this car has - the W1 was available on Special 2 door sedans only - this interior along with the vin and hardtop body point directly at this being a possible GS 340 - what was the original color code? That will also tell you ALOT.

    Re: what did i buy?/update

Sorry about the long wait. Work has been busy. we got the car into the shop about a month ago and they have it all disassembled. It is going in this week for all the sandblasting. So far I have 3900 in parts. doors 67 fenders, hood, scoops, trunk pans, gas tank, and a bunch of other nick nack stuff.. Still have to get all of the chrome and badges, and find a 400 motor and 4 speed transmission setup.. Everything seems to be going along pretty good though I got pictures from my mother so I can match up paint with his car. His birthday is in late August so hopefully it will be done in time. If you guys get any leads on a motor and tranny around Michigan let me know!! I also put a post in that I have a 350 motor and tranny I dont need and can't store. so if anyone needs it let me know.
