uhh, joan jett,i saw her in concert a couple years ago, knocked my socks off!!!im a big fan of the runaways:TU:
Way to many to list Stevie Ray Vaughan Hendrix Duane Allman Warren Haynes Dickey Betts Gary Moore Angus Young Billy Gibbons
I like the following: Jeff Beck Hendrix Jim Cipollina (Quicksilver Messenger Service) Keith Richards Ron Wood (Faces-era) Frampton is VERY underrated Jorma Kaukonen Eddie VH Brian Setzer (saw him live and was impressed) David Lindley Jimmy Page Rhino from Iron Butterfly/Captain Beyond George Harrison I am sure if I do this list tomorrow, it'll be different. I just can't think at the moment.
Not sure many would know this guy...he plays for a band called Children of Bodom. AMAZING classical riffs in his playing. Alexi Laiho. Also, i'm a HUGE Van Halen fan, so props to Eddie as well as Zakk Wylde, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Kirk Hammett.....i'm gonna stop there because it'd take a long while to list 'em out lol
I've said it once i'll say it again-Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath! Simply amazing how he can play with the tips of 2 of his fret fingers missing! Some of his solos are out of this universe. After all he is the Riff Master! Think i'll put on some Sabbath as i speak:laugh: Ok i got Dirty Women off the classic Black Sabbath Technical Ecstacy album blasting-Ah sweet music to my ears!
Yeah, I would assume Children of Bodom are a little heavier than most people on here probably care for... but I like' em... the guitar playing in "The Final Countdown" cover is amazing. Since lately, I have to add Kirk Hammet and James Hetfield to my list also, just now learning "Welcome Home ( Sanitarium) by them. The mix of heavy riffs, combined with the light and smooth intro is fun, and really fun to play on a classical guitar. There is more than a few new killer guitar players, many of which play for the newer "hardcore" or "grindcore" bands, they are heavier than many bands you'll ever hear, though, its 98% screaming for the vocals. They don't really play well until it comes to the solo, they beat on their guitars in insanely hard to mimic, and usually horrible sounding ways, and rip out a solo. BUT these bands are really energetic and fun to see live...
Yea, I agree. People look at me funny when they hear me listening to the death vocals. Its the guitar I hear though, not the screaming. Old Metallica can be quite fun to play. You gonna be able to make it up here to Columbus this weekend, btw?
Glad to see Nuno Bettencourt mentioned. I like melodic players. At the top of my list is Phil Keaggy. He seems to come up with an endless string of melodic lines when he plays live... it never gets old. That's why I like Duane Allman. I love SRV too, but I consider him a blues player. He does start to get old to me after a while, but the blues does that for me in general. I'd rather pull my hair out than listen to more than 1 song by George Thorogood (don't even know how to spell it). Nothing against you who like him- just not my thing. Hendrix was probably the most unique player I can think of. Outside of rock, check out "the guitar trio"- McLaughlin, DiMeola, and DeLucia. Pretty good stuff. Also interesting and mostly unheard of- Peter Mulvey (www.petermulvey.com) Here is a list of all the tunings he uses for just one of his albums (deep blue): CFCFAC (twelve string) CGCFGC, CAPO IV BbFCFGC, nashville strung (twelve string tuning without the bass strings) CGDGCD BGCFBbD, CAPO IV 1-5 EbEbCFFF (first 3 strings all same value, different from bob version) AADGBE DGCFAD DGCFAD, CAPO VII GGCFAD, CAPO II DADGAE ________ Medical Marijuana Strains
9 days 'til B.S Mk II with Dio come to Melbourne! Gonna see Iommi LIVE!! The night I get home from the U.S., Motorhead are in town too!
Steve Howe of Yes these 2 Fred "sonic" Smith and Wayne Kramer of the MC5 aka motorcity5 anybody from the late 60s early 70s here of them the most famous song was "kick out the jams" killer tunes for the time
There is only one George Thorogood song. Just kidding. Two by ZZ Top. I like Zakk Wylde, but I'm of the growing opinion he is too riff-based. Some solos seem interchangable.
Didn't see any mention of Rik Emmett of Triumph...I've seen him several times with Triumph and solo. The boy can play rock, classical, jazz, etc. with the best of them. What say you from up north?
:laugh::laugh: ROTFLMAO :laugh::laugh: Zakk is good, but I'd have to disagree with those people.
