Is that back when you were still having to crank start all your cars (you know, before those new-fangled fancy-shmancy electric starters)? Was that 2000 miles on the Oregon trail?? Did you send telegraphs home or use carrier pigeons?? :D:D:D

    Who loves ya pal... :p

Jim, I have been to both tracks multiple times and BG even with the great Fall weather is consistently 2 tenths slower than Cecil. This years meet was probably worse air than I've ever been at Cecil although I never bother going when it is 90* these days. I was about a tenth worse than last year so that helps Larry out.

Alan, where were you in '81 or '79 for that matter? Darn youngster! Why, when I was young I used to drive through the snow in West Virginia to get to Bowling Green! On slicks! With 12 lbs. of air in them!(The slicks were actually in the trunk just in case I needed a spare tire.) I do agree on the "making it back home most of the time" thing.

Last time I looked, you were younger than me, by about 5 years :grin:, so when I was in diapers, you weren't even a gleam in your father's eye:laugh::laugh: That doesn't let you off the hook for neglecting Big Red. You know I have offered to wrench on her numerous times so no excuses. Get crackin Moishe!

Oh, and get that GV you bought from Chuck on her while you are at it.

    Tell ya what Alan.

If you fix BigRed, bring it to Cecil next year, I'll drive Nasty up from SC, give you 2 cars and the leave, I'll keep my hyway tires on and show you how an "Over the hill old racer" will send that slug you drive home with a good spanking you deserve.

    WORD !!!

It does, but for some reason I was skating around at the top end. It only did that on one run, I remember feeling it.:Dou:

    Larry,

Next time you go out, flash the converter from just off idle.. it should stall more.

Tried that on the very first run Jim. Didn't seem to leave any harder. I will try again on the next outing.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

That worked best for me with my last converter (Coan 3,500) in my '67. Going to have to see how new setup works now.
Seems some cars can leave at a much higher RPM and others need to go off idle.

I have ALWAYS left off at high idle or couple hundred above, but my new converter doesn't respond to that method it wants to loaded to 2400 or so and it will 60 over a tenth quicker. So now ive got my two step wired to the brake light switch so its more consistent. Loading the suspension in theory isn't the best thing but it didn't seem to bother my car and Turbo6s crawl up on the converter all the time. So Ive readjusted what I use to preach about flashing the converter.

Larry, I know that your valve body in your trans determines your shift points. Find out buddy.

Larry, why not use the computer plug in on the digital msd6? The digital gives you a read out.

Larry, what kind of suspension modifications do you have. ( boxed in control arm ends, adjustable upper and lower control arms, a anti-roll controller in back, air bags, or what ever?) you can by a add on to your MSD 6 Digital that is a datalogger and adjust timing to per cylinder not only all eight at once. Its called a Multi-Function Ignition controller MSD P#8977. Look it up. You'll love it. Ever thought of calling Pro-System's Carburators to see if they can make you a carburator for your specific needs? They have a guarantee that they can beat any one's carburator and it will work to your specific needs or money back ! That's hard to beat there..but the tire spin can be so many things, thats why I asked on chassis modifications. Always remember this though, the dyno is not the track, a dyno can not stimulate a cars load conditions. This is way I build engines specifically to one's vehicle not just on what he wants in power level. Look at John Lingenfelter's car's? Their simular to what you are trying to accomplish. Power anytime but desent gas mileage for size of engine but run a desent number at the strip but drivability is most important. I learned a ton from people like him and other's like him . please write back, I'll try my best to help figure out your problem but only one thing needs to be tried a time because you compound your issues everytime you add different things.

Larry, I forgot to add that you can hear the engine blub a little at the 1-2 shift. Q-Jet maybe or something else? Next year I'll see if I can get more videos.

    Mike,

That sure sounds like the beginnings of the rev limiter to me, right at the top of first gear. I notice that it blows a little smoke out of both sides too.. like when the rev limiter kicks in.

Larry, next time out, set the high side rev limiter to 6500, see if that goes away.

Seems like it comes and goes too fast to be a fuel issue.
