Larry installed the Jim Weise - Roller cam motor into his 70 Stage1 and drove down to Cecil ... ... so far he's run a best of 11.67 !! He's having trouble not blowing away the drag radials CONGRATS LARRY !! :beers2:
Yeah, it's so quiet and idles like a stocker. I watched Larry make several passes today, trying refine his launch technique. Totally different animal he's dealing with now! Way to go Larry!! :3gears:
Ya mean it works too? (Re: Welcome to the 11 Second Club Larry ... aka THE WIZARD !!) Hi Alan, Larry, and V-8 Buick assertive engine fans, Ya' mean you can actually run these JW masterpieces?? I thought they were only poetic sculpture!! :laugh: Seriously, congratulations Larry!! :TU: It has been a long time in coming for your too! Cheers, Edouard :beer
Larry picked me up at 5AM and we drove 3 hrs down to Ceicil. The car ran flawless and never missed a beat. After a fan belt failure and a distributor clitch Larry procceded to knock off 7 runs: #1: 12.46 @ 114.46 spinning the tires 300' out 60' 1.93 20psi drag radials. #2: 12.24 @ 115.04 spinning worse 2.11 60' 20psi. #3: 12.003 @ 114.46 1.83 60' still spinning 18psi. #4: 11.72 @ 114.46 1.63 60' 16psi. #5: 11.67 @114.87 1.64 60' 14psi. #6: 11.67 @ 115.49 1.71 60' 14psi. #7: 11.94 @ 115.49 1.89 60' Back to spinning using more high stall Calculated altitude was 1400' I'm proud of that boy and truely know that his car has low 11 second potential for sure. Good job Larry !!! :TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU::TU:
It was great to talk to him today, you can here the enthusiasm in his voice.. he was a little touch and go on making it out, but I am glad he went. Congrats Larry.. no one is happier for you than I am. JW
Thanks guys!, It was a fun day. This engine is completely different than anything else I have driven before. It pulls hard from start to finish. I had a lot of trouble getting the car to hook. At one point I tried launching in low stall, but it still spun some. My best 60' was a 1.63. It was running about 7.4 at 91-92 MPH in the 1/8. I gained a full 1 MPH by taking off the air cleaner. On the 3rd pass, I scanned my gauges as I slowed down on the shutdown, and saw 200* coolant temperature, and as i turned onto the return road, it quickly moved to 210, 220, and as it neared 230, I shut it down and pulled onto the grass. Bruno Jr, and my friend Stacy came to tow me back to the pits. I found my fan belt on the track in pieces. It was shredded.:laugh: Yardley gave me a new NAPA fan belt and I was back in business, Thanks Yards!!:TU: I also lost a weight pivot pin in the Dave Ray distributor. I JB welded it back in and ran it with one weight. All in all, a great and exciting day at Cecil. I know I'm just gonna get faster as I optimize things.
...nothing a rather large dose of peer pressure couldn't cure I think Moon told him he wouldn't loan him any Depends
