Those are there to prevent hard contact to body they don't do anything in terms of retaining the molding and very minor tension up against the pin..which is moot when it's been primed and painted. Once positioned on the car and pushed on they will function as intened 420030 is the SanR # I've cut the wings off b4 because they were blue for whatever reason
Al not sure why you're having an issue with this...you have what you need....I popped the molding off the clips like I've done on probably 50 Buicks....I've owned and parted close to 100 70-72 Buicks
If you want to delete the top that's your choice obviously but doing it because you can't find clips would be a mistake is all I'm sayin
I see what you're doing...I took a clip and yes it just falls into the molding......when you are holding the molding....i just put a clip on the pin on the car and the molding snaps on just as intened even without the wings on the clip.
