For those of us who order and ship parts... Sounds like August 01 is the tentative strike date. I have a package that went via UPS ~ 2 weeks ago, and the delivery date keeps on changing... Wow, I had the opposite experience with UPS. I ordered something large from Amazon. I wasn’t supposed to get it until Saturday. I got it yesterday, Thursday. The guy was super nice and brought it all the way into my carport.
My local driver said the strike won't happen. He claims UPS made so much money last year they will give the union almost anything. Troy
One employee beef is the lack of air conditioning in their brown delivery trucks. There have been at least two instances around here of drivers passing out due to the heat here in SW Florida. I am 100% on the employee's side on this issue.
The teamsters are idiots if they strike. They already get $43 hr. & w/ot, most make over $100k/yr. I realize it's not an easy job but seriously... I get the issues w/part time & flex workers too, which seems to be the major hangup, but... Seems the head of the union ran on being tough on negotiations so maybe he'll bite off their collective heads despite... There's much more capacity in the system now & unlike '97, not all the business will come back. Amazon is poised to get into the delivery service for other companies & FedEx Ground is much more robust than it was back then. Hopefully the union has planned better than in '97 too when I think strike pay from the union was about $50/week. Didn't take too long for that reality to set in. Maybe UPS would be stupid for not giving them what they want too but that'll eventually, as the auto maker found w/the UAW, that'll come back to bite 'em in a**. Fwiw, I think they'll reach an agreement. They already got that concession on new package cars (i.e. delivery trucks).
My local driver has stopped here several times an looked flushed,so I made him take 2 bottles of cold water to drink. He has been in my garage several times bringing parts. I told him,even if I am not home to stop in and take water even if I don't have a delivery. I worked outside in the heat,rain,snow and every type of weather,so I know what a cold drink can do. He has stopped a few times as I have found Thank You notes on the fridge in the garage.

Agreed 110% . That's what a union does . It gets the BEST wages and Benefits for its members . GO Teamsters from a former 107 member .
That is for full-time long-term drivers; think the tractor-trailer drivers. Most home-delivery drivers are part-time and make about $20 per hour after 30 days on the job. If the driver works five hours per day five days each week, he/she gets $500 per week before deductions. That is not a living wage here in SW Florida (or pretty much anywhere else in the US where you would want to live).

If so, I'll apologize for the misinformation. I do know for a fact that even 15-20 years ago at our local center (there are multiple centers inna terminal) that they'd have an annual contest to see who would hit $100k first so $25/hr. seems kinda low. I suspect that $25 includes the part-time/flex drivers seemingly at the heart of the standoff
UPS does have some full-time delivery drivers. When we lived in Massachusetts we had the same driver except when he was on vacation. I suspect that this was because trying to keep the routes staffed in winter in MA would be impossible at those wages.
Love the sour grapes on this board because someone can make good money. Feel free to put your application in at ups. Lol
I have been in my business since 1980 and every UPS driver that we have had over the years has been full time.
