It'll never hold up. The first direct hit with a Trident missile and it will crumple right up.

We're fabbing up a custom sheetmetal pan for it.

I don't think we'll have any issues anyway since we're doing away with the stock steering and going to a rack and pinion.

We used special nuclear resistant chromoly tubing so we should be good to go with any missle attacks.

Believe it or not we're going to have to add a couple of more bars to tie the rear frame rails back into the main cage crossmember to make the NHRA chassis inspector happy. A little overkill IMO but he's the one with the certification stickers. There's a lot more hoops to jump thru to get the 25.3 certification. Once he signs off on it it'll be ready to start welding it all up. Waiting on some brackets for the rear end housing and the plan is to have it back on the ground by Christmas. Delays with the engine have it pushed back to the first of the year.

Holy crap, those control arms are HUGE! Great build. Can't wait to see the engine bay start to come together.

We're waiting on some parts to finish the rear suspension. It will be worth the wait. Nobody's seen anything like this before.

The engine is done - just waiting for my turn to get it on the dyno.

That has to be a heavy car now what is the weight with all the extra tubing???

Not really. Chromoly tubing is relatively light compared to mild steel. What we've added in weight with the cage we've lost with the sheetmetal rear end housing, control arms, wheels, etc, etc. The plan is to use some ultra light carbon fiber pieces in select places to help keep her trim. The engine will be pretty light as well. Car has to stay under 3400# for the SFI 25.3 certification.

    Update

Here you go Dan. You'll have to wait a little longer for the rear suspension.............

Well, it's been a while but we have made a little progress. Car is back on all fours at what we hope is close to the final ride height. The rear suspension should start coming together next week.

The engine itself is 95% done. Finishing up the liquid intercooler next week and then just waiting our turn to get it on the dyno. We can't do much more with the chassis until we get the engine in the car. Anyways, here's what it looks like right now.

Engine delays have prevented us from making any more progress. I can however report that the engine is loaded on the dyno right now. We had some issues with the throttle linkage not working smoothly so it all got cut off and is being redesigned. Hopefully we'll have some HP numbers later on in the week and maybe even a video of the money pulls.
