Hey Will; She's gonna be sweet. Maybe I missed it somewhere in the reading, but what are you looking at for final weight ?? Great Job Wil
No blow thru stuff for me - I'm a fuel injection man. Engine management will be an Electromotive TEC3r which uses a unique and extremely accurate ignition. Hard to say at this point but we have to keep it under 3600# to get the 25.3 certification. We have some trick carbon fiber parts ideas to help keep her trim. I hope it winds up around 3400#.
it's nice when your building a lsx because everthing is accessible to make big power. What are you using for a bottom end? did you end up using the tall deck height lsx block and a set of custom rods for your lsx to get you 455ci? those motors are unbelieveable!! well best of luck and let me know any of those secrets you are using to let your wife support you addiction to hp!! i'm getting married next year and always looking for tips..i am tring to get all the cars done before the big date.. best of luck paul 66larkgs turbo nailhead
It's a tall deck GMPP LSx block stuffed with Callies forged crank, Oliver billet rods and JE Pistons. The bore can't go as big as a BBB but we're making it up with the stroke. Heads will be fully ported All-Pros flowing around 400cfm on the intake side - another reason the decision was made to go the LS route. My wife knew what she was getting when we got married. One of our first dates was to go pick up a race car.
Will, You bought this 1970 GS from my good friend Wayne. Wayne put a lot of Love and Passion into this car. Very cool build your doing. I will be very interested in knowing more about the Carbon Fiber add-ons your planning on putting on this Buick. Dan
Hey Dan- I believe you were the one I originally contacted about the car. Wayne is a good guy and I know he busted his butt to get it to the point it is now. He even wanted to go the extra mile to hang the other new quarter panel just to make sure it was "right". I hope he's not horrified at what we are doing with the car. I know it's looking a lot like a RACE car right now but the end product will hopefully be a top shelf street car capable of kicking some serious butt on the track. As far as the carbon fiber goes, the biggest plan we have at the moment is for the rear wheel tubs to be fabbed out of carbon fiber. We may use more in some other places as thing progress and as long as it's not cost prohibitive.
Will, Yes, I do remember speaking with you. Wayne, does do great work and is always willing to do the "Right Thing" Wayne and I will be watching your build, keep the pictures coming :TU: :kodak: What color are you planning on painting the car? Dan
great looking work.. looks like it is worth every penny... what are you looking to run? 8.50 car? paul 66larkgs turbo nailhead
Cage will certify to 6.50. The goal is to run in the 7s in street trim complete with AC. The car will capable of going much faster with larger turbos but I'm not building another race car - remember?
Very nice work Will. Which oil pan will you be running? I've seen some tie rod issues on some of the pans with the LS swap.
