90 mins in an Fn TSA line yesterday at Newark. Result, missed my plane by 5 mins. Then they couldn't get me on anther flight for 4 hours. Thus missed my connection in LAX. Had to spend the day in LA. Downside...I got to go to the Petersen Museum..... :)

Just received conditional approval from TSA for Global Pre-Check (nearly 5 months from date of application). Here in the Tampa area the next interview date is March 10, 2020! I'm looking at close to one year from date of application to full approval.

Bill--call to book another location for the interview. You can book a TSA office located in another airport while you are on a trip.

Search for nearby locations. Living in Bowling Green, KY, I checked Nashville, Memphis, Louisville and Cincinnati. I was looking at a 6-month delay, well past my next international travel date but wound up getting one only 30 days out.

I checked Orlando, which is about 2 hours away, and they have Nov. 11 2019 as the next available date. That happens to be Veterans Day so it is obviously a glitch in their system. All other locations are a minimum of 4 hours away and all are experiencing a similar backlog. I'm in no hurry to do any overseas travel so it's not a big deal. Besides, my wife already has Global/TSA Pre check so we're good when traveling together.

Not necessarily true. I got my appointment in Nashville for Father's day Sunday. Keep checking because they add dates and there are cancellations. I was checking daily to get my appointment.

I got under a week out on the appt. Mine was at a Staples store in Tallahassee.

Should we make an appointment for a Real ID now? :(

I would recommend checking often in the online system. Assuming it's how it was when I applied, people cancel often and sometimes there may be openings that aren't that far out.

Real ID appointments are booked well in 2020 here.

Just saw a commercial for that. Wasn't really sure how it worked but am thinking I'm not liking the idea

Briz—in N. C. it is a DMV program. The trick is to make an appointment with a contiguous, small county that is not so busy and to make sure that you have the all the required documentation.

At BWI, the line for pre-check is oftentimes longer than the regular one. Even so, if I was flying as much as I used to (once/mo. on avg.) I'd do it. I'm sure there are long lines some places but I can't remember the last time I waited more than 5-10 minutes at any airport.

Probbly not the right thread in which to post this, but didja see that Quantas did a 19hr flight from New York to Sidney, Australia in a 787 yesterday? I'm a pilot and love to fly, but not 19 hrs.

knee replacement slows the process for me. They send you through the regular line for scanning, but can keep my boots on...
