I figured when the time came I'd do a whole other thread on the build when the time came, but wanted to show what prompted my need for pistons....I wouldn't have used those pistons even if we kept a standard bore, and wasn't surprised to see one cracked, but was surprised how major the crack was and how that thing could have come apart and ruined my block pretty easy. Makes me a little uneasy about trying to get another half season out of my unopened numbers matching motor....

Thats crazy Rhett. Glad to hear the engine was pulled and torn down before it let loose. Scary stuff.

The 31st. is approaching quickly. I need your deposit by the 31st. Specs can wait a little. But, the sooner the specs the sooner YOUR custom pistons will reach your door.

Was Ross able to work out arrangements with you?

Pistons ordered. Payment sent. BTW: High-mileage Nailhead factory pistons are prone to that spiral cracking that was posted earlier regardless of displacement. I was disassembling a 264 years ago just to freshen it a bit. One of the pistons came out with a similar crack that I felt would have resulted in the engine grenading on the next hard pull. I had it hanging in the garage for about 20 years before my brother pitched it. The engine ran beautifully and used no oil.

I must thank all who took advantage of the piston offer I've been working on. As of today, the 31st. I have gotten deposits for 15 sets. Each set will be custom made for the application. Or if you don't know all the specs right now you or your machinist having the option of doing some of the custom work themselves. I was told today that they will accept slightly later deposits & still honor the previous pricing.
Don't forget these will be universal for 401/425's. I was also told they can be lightened to your specs. In other words if you've had an engine rebuilt & balanced already the piston & pin weights of what's in there now can be matched or closely matched for a small additional fee. This means that you WON'T have to have the whole assembly re-balanced again. Another plus for being a universal design.
Again, thanks to all who have shown interest & trusting me with your deposit $$$$$.

Also, as an aside the assembly's can be made lighter. It's naturally MUCH easier to remove weight than add.

    Tom:

Thanks for the information. I would have contacted you earlier, but I have a real estate company and property taxes have to be paid. No problem it's just making sure everything gets in on time.

This said is there a particular protocoll for using these boosted? I REALLY want a Blown Nailhead in a early roadster.

    Thanks,

    Ty

I know I'm late I just couldn't get everything done, I still don't know if I have a good block yet. I have two 401's but need to get them broken down checked and measured and I'm just not there yet. Sorry about the delay.

Ty, just to let you know, if you have been & looks like you have been keeping abreast of this thread, you still have time to get in on this. They have extended it for a week or so since I have gotten more than the 10 required sets. So just let me know what you would like to do ASAP & I'll put you down for a set. Deposit within the next few weeks.

TTT If any haven't taken advantage of this you still have time. I don't need the specs this moment, but a commitment with a deposit will hold you a set & put you in-line.

Tom, do I make out and send the payment to you? Any preferred method?

Made out to myself Matt & mailed to the address below. A personal check, money order, cashiers check or just about any way that's easiest for you. By the time I get ALL the nec. specs & the pistons made the check will have cleared long ago.

P.S. on the alt. bracket. Are you looking for the aluminum bracket?? If so you will also need the longer head bolts, the support that bolts to the motor mount, the alt. adjustment bracket & all the associated bolts. Just to let you know for a FYI if you get all this stuff from Ca.
