love my car, but at 4160lbs without me she's a large girl. Have decided to upgrade to a 470 and sell the running 455 in my car when it comes time to put it away this year. Getting excited just thinking about it!

15 more cubic inches, you think that will make a difference?
    What’s your combo now?

I expect it will make a huge difference. Maybe I should have said built 470. Any HD I have ever increased the engine size has made a huge difference. Current setup is a 30 over 455 with a mild cam, 4 barrel, and headers.

Talked to JW. Will be listing a great running 455 in a few months for sale in Upstate NY.

I', interested in how this thing weighs in at 4160 lbs - my full power, fully loaded AC 73 Century Gran Sport weighs less than that, with a full tank of gas!

I was shocked myself. I went to a truck stop and got it weighed on their scale.I don't know how much more a 700R4 and a Quick Performance 9" weighs compared to stock, but she's heavy. Going to take the AC off, and probably replace the front bench with 2 racing seats to shed a little weight.

Well the difference fro. 462 to 470 cubes is in itself basically nothing.........if your going to do it might as well get 482, it won't be any real money difference

I have to chuckle when I hear not much of a difference between my current 462 and the 470 I am planning. It would in fact be about a 150hp difference. I’m not familiar with the 482 but I will research it tonight. If it’s close to the same $$$ and as reliable as what I am planning I’m not afraid to go bigger. I’m willing to give up a little hp for longevity.

I think what they're saying is you can build a 462 to make as much power as a 470. the actual cubic inches difference won't mean much at all. In fact I doubt you'd notice it other than maybe a Smurf more low-end torque

Well the 150hp is coming more from how the motor is built. If you built a 455,462,464,470 all with same compression, heads, cam, intake carb, etc. Those 4 motor wouldn't make much difference in actual power output.

Now a stk iron head low compression stk cam motor compared to a built, higher compression, better heads, roller cam etc.....your not comparing apples to apples

The only real difference between a 464, 470, 482, is the amount of offset grinding in the crank, the rod length, and compression height of the piston. The cost to offset grinding to regular grind is only 150-200 more......if buying rods or piston, there isn't really any price difference. My 464 rods from molnar cost the exact same as rods for 470 or 482. Same as most pistons.

Thanks for the clarifications guys. Yes I understand what is being said. I understand the 470 is a Stroker while the 462 isn’t, meaning more tq. Imo going from the HD world, I always loved Stroker motors for the TQ. Given the choice, a 470 makes more sense than a 462 to me. Just started reading up on the 482. I need to pick JW’s brain a little more. That’s why I clarified a built 470 compared
To the current motor. Rather than doing a killer top end on my motor it makes more sense to
Me to do a complete motor, and sell my current motor before I pull it so someone can come hear it run, compression test, etc. Longevity is going to be the deciding factor with cost.

Who is building the 470 or 482 for you? The power potential is all in the heads.

The same gentleman who built your beast. I spoke to JW a little today. I def want him to port the aluminum heads and port match the intake to get the most out of whatever combo I go with.

Yes sir! I’ve been lurking and paying attention to you fast guys. My last car (18 Challenger TA) was a 12.0 car on a drag radials, so looking to beat that. Best part is, my 13 year old son is now racing my car, so making the investment into our racing future makes it easier to commit the $$$

So just to be honest,...and coming from someone that has run about every stock offering there is,...if you want to be able to hang with this new stuff,..from a roll this new stuff will take your lunch money most every time,....because they have something we dont,....badass transmissions

That being said,....you need 650 to 700hp to run with a 460hp stock Coyotes,....so build accordingly

And if they are on anything other than a cold air kit we are prey,.....sorry guys

Thats why I keep a late model performance car,.....big block buick torque is very fun,..and addictive,...but modern power with efficiency is king

Couldn’t agree more. New stuff is always in the powerband. Hard to compete.

Upgrading to a 5 speed or 6-speed won't help? I guess they have 8 gears in late models.
