That's pretty funny....47 hp with a spacer. I have a 1 in. SuperSucker on mine and picked up nothing over my 4 hole 1 in BG.

    Carb spacer

My current engine picked up 37 horsepower with the addition of a 2 inch spacer, square jetting and block off of the power valve. I would not have believed it if I wasn't standing right there watching the dyno pulls!

So is the SP2 high port still a better performing manifold than this new SP1? Though I guess since it takes different heads to use the SP2 then the camparison is a little off...

The HVH spacer was worth nothing in ET or MPH over my 1" spacer(open).

I think your missing the point.the article was a small block chevy all out race motor with a very narrow power band that will never come close to being driven to the grocery store or to the hang outs.
The full article was in a chevy magazine and said that this motor would be leaving the line at 5500 plus and pulling to 7500 up rpm's.

That set up is starting where most of the street strip buicks are all done.
And if you look closely at the intake in the article and the mopar and the pontiac intakes in the shoot out that made more torque than the buick, you will see that there design is very similar in the plenum area.
None of them have the flat walls that can cause restriction like the SP-1 incounters.
I think numbers like that on our set ups would be unrealistic. if we could get 8to 10 hp and torque gains, and more bottom end streetability streetability.I would be very happy.

The super sucker and the wilson spacers are designed to speed up the velocity of air fuel mixture and direct it from the center of the plenum to the outer edges right into the wall of the sp-1. which I feel causes some turbulance.
The chevy pontiac and mopar intakes don't have that wall, everything is deflected directly into a runner. A big advantage I feel.
The closest thing we have to that design is the KB wildcat intake.
That's why I think it's better suited for this type of spacer.
Not taking anything from the current SP-1 it did win that shootout. With the new improvements I think there will be a difference.
I'm sending Jim the spacer to see if we could have won the torque title too.
And to see if (as my cousin calls me)I was the super sucker for buying it.
This will also help other buick owners from falling for the hype.
