On another thread, we were debating whether it was one car or two - but either way this is the place. A "friend" shared a super cool interior picture you're not going to want to miss! So scroll down, and feast your eyes on Miss General Motors grasping the 4 gear ball and, above her head, the courtesy light that somehow manages to steal the show!

That was probably just a temporary fluorescent light rigged up to light up the interior without burning the car headliner up.

Yes, probably for the photo. Still very space aged ;~)

The steering wheel looks unique? looks sort of like a white wood wheel, with a different button?

    Awesome!!!!
So lovely Miss GM is in the version the has open wheel wells and no fender skirt-notice the door panels. Also, the width of the pattern on the seat is like the no-skirt car-not all the way to the bolsters and edges. And what’s up with the carpet or whatever behind her seat? Probably hidden from the actual photo, like the bulb?

The keys are behind the seat along with? The picture of the interior is from April 1968.

There's also an electrical cord running inside the car in that same photo.

I think the steering wheel is the three spoke rally with the wood replaced with white rubber or plastic. Looks like she has it turned to the left.

April 1968 seems kind of late in the model year for a '68 at an auto show. The steering wheel looks like my 68 wood grain rally wheel molded in white plastic. You can also see a bracket that runs across the headliner holding up the florescent light.

Cool photos, wish there were more.

****Edit, the 1968 Chicago Auto show was 2/24/68 so I guess they had shows in the spring. I would think that '69 model year cars would have been on display.

Possibly, but I think it is more likely a microphone cord and she is holding it in her right hand in that first photo. I have a good many auto show photos from the era, and it wasn't unusual for them to have one.

In fact, it appears there is a speaker under the rearend in the second picture.

Bring back up my initial thread. I guess I should ask how many or do they still exist of the proto types around?
We got the car I was trying to figure out and I’m guessing a board member owns it. The red 70
    Stage 1 with white interior.
    Also the 70 gsx
Was there any 69’s out there and is this 68 in the picture above still around?

I wish there were more too Mike, but that is one reason I try to share what I am fortunate enough to unearth. Maybe someone else has something to add.

Seeing current model year cars at these types of shows was, and continues to be, the norm, concept cars aside. This is a "customized" production car.

The 70 cars have been discussed many, many, times in previous threads and numerous magazine stories and for good reason. My attempt here was to spread a little love to the stepchild. There probably was a 69, but I have never seen it.
