Depending on which weather person you listen to, looking at another 3" to 8" tonight. Froggies better refill their snowblowers.

My Daughter & Family, in Hodgenville, Kentucky, had their furnace quit working with the temps dipping well below freezing. They are running electric heaters to keep warm. Part (heat exchanger) was ordered for the furnace. It was supposed to be in today, but was not on the furnace company's shipment. They reordered it. Now it'll be Monday/Tuesday before they get heat.

I feel for them. Their pipes could freeze and burst during the interim.

They have the faucets trickling just so that doesn't happen. Their house is on a crawl space. Son-in-law went in and checked everything. He said it was actually above freezing under the house. I told him to get heat tape or run some lights under there just to be safe.

-15F out right now, lost a water pipe in the garage tonight. Looks like tomorrow I get to be a plumber. The last 2 or 3 weeks have been some of the harshest conditions, with no break, that I can remember in a long time.

Edit - ended up at -16F last night, which is another record low. With one week to go, February 2015 is currently the coldest February on record here in Syracuse, NY and is the coldest month ever here since record keeping began -the average temperature has been 9.7F. Next week looks cold too. Thank goodness for Global Warming because I hate to think how cold and snowy it would have been w/o it!

We hit 58 degrees yesterday in rain showers and finally shed the ice. But, at least two more systems are approaching before the weekend.

Feb 2015, Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse and Watertown NY all recorded their coldest month ever. Frogs will have to start migrating if global warming keeps up...

Wife and three of her sisters, are in sunny Florida (near Daytona). They left Friday. This is the 3rd year. Husbands are invited, but we pass. It's good for the girls to spend the time together. Not getting any younger. The first time they went there was to hang out with their older Bro, whose wife had passed away the previous summer. They had gone there, with there son, every year for a month or so. As we get older, we don't like Winter. We used to snowmobile, etc.. Wife hates the cold now.

For those that don't believe it can snow much if it's really cold, you'd be wrong! 60" in February here, which is second to only one time a long time ago. Coldest month ever (9.1F avg, beating old record by over 3), second most snowiest February and we haven't been above freezing since January. Ski slopes are complaining - they can't keep their groomers up and running and few people ski when the wind chills are well below zero.
