Been eating nothing but a bowl of corn flakes for breakfast for 50 years. Costs about 35 cents/day and my doctor is always amazed with my cholesterol.

Here’s my breakfast go-to if I don’t cook at home.
I hit the Covington location but the same guy owns it.

My Grandmother eats a bowl full of broken up saltine crackers, topped with black coffee and like 2 large teaspoons of sugar. She eats this with about 4 slices of sharp cheddar cheese. She has had this same breakfast since she was little. She turns 99 in March and still eats it to this day. Nasty looking stuff.

My local Tim Hort"o"n's also has crazy lineups throughout the day.
I stopped eating that fast "fuud" crap years ago. Been over 22 years since my last Mickey D's visit. At least 10 for Burger King, Wendy's, and Taco Bell. Probably 2 years since I last had an A & W Teenburger. I'll hit Subway maybe once per year.

Prefer to buy and cook food for myself. Both cheaper in the long run, and I can select better products instead of ingesting pink slime laden el cheapo burgers.

...we became a "service-based economy," with everything that entails...

...you're getting a look at the depression. Most of what I ate as a kid was based on those times, plus WW2 rationing. As a young adult, I tried to get relatives to talk about how they survived (in case it happened again), but most didn't want to talk about those times. I learned by paying attention to their meals...

Local McDonald's lobby closes at 1:00pm, when the "breakfast ladies" are done working for the day. Can't get consistent/reliable help to have the number of people needed to keep the lobby open during the afternoon and evening and support the drive thru. Then as pointed out in previous posts the drive thru is backed up 15-20 cars. I do give the McDonald's we regularly visit credit is that they get the cars through pretty quick.

The local Dairy Queen "Grill & Chill" supposedly only serves ice cream now -no burgers, fries, etc... as they only have 1 or 2 people working at a given time, nobody to run the grill.

I have my two cups of black coffee, hit the gym for 2-1/2 to 3 hrs, then I eat breakfast about 11 or noon.
2, sometimes 3 eggs, cheese, sometimes a canadian bacon slice or two, either on an english muffin or a tortilla wrap.
Works well with my digestive system. Sometimes eating breakfast out rumbles my gut. Guess it depends how much of a greazy spoon it is....:D:D.

I was buying a breakfast sandwich nearly everyday from the local deli but recently have been making my own. I cook a pile of sausage patties sunday night. Every morning I toast a bagel, add a slice of cheese and nuke a patty. Takes all of 3 minutes and saves me a few bucks. If I skip breakfast I'm starving by 8.

I hear you there Joe.. I can't function till I have some food in me. Never used to eat breakfast, but as I got older, I noticed that if I did not eat in the morning, I was sluggish all day.

On the other hand, both my best friend and my girlfriend can't eat til they are up for several hours..

2 big bagels (generally onion) every morning with 2 eggs with kick-n-chicken seasoning, cheese, ham or Portuguese sausage. Anything less and I wouldn't be able to keep my 29 inch waist:D... my cholesterol level is low also:D.
Corn beef hash on Sundays also....
We just had a new diner open in our small town. Prices cheaper than McDonald's. Always busy and they are good.

Exactly. And when you make it yourself it’s not loaded up with salt and crap to make it cheaper.

McDonalds offering up to 15 an hour, ok thats fine, but what about the skilled trades whos starting wage is say 16 to 18 an hour?
Thats a real kick in the nuts making only a couple bucks more per hour than a burger flipper.
It does damage to ones moral, or self esteem.

You can save a boatload of money at McDonald’s. Just get the app on your phone. They repeat these deals constantly. Even though it says it expires today they restart it the next day or the day after. I have tons of other apps including Chick-fil-A, Burger King, Dunkin’ Donuts… They all offer deals all the time when you either use the app or order ahead. Plus you earn points for free stuff.

I call bull on that. I pay myself 600 a week and do just fine. Its a matter of priority's and spending money wisely. Once the min wage goes 15.00 a happy meal will be 10$ and no one is any better than before. When I made 3.35 min wage I still paid my bills and had a roof, food , car and a bag of pot each week.

I had to make that 15 hr wage climbing back up out of the hole the last ten years yhe printing trade has been destroyed on wages. I had a owner at a interview actually tell me he pays 15$ per hr to run a 4-6 color printing press and we talking 40 in sheet. That is how he is able to buy all new equipment by paying you less. I said no **** way

I got most back of what I should make for this trade but not really since printing don't pay what it used to wages stagnant for over ten years.
I tried this go back to school crap I was going for physical therapy assistant got thru 35 credits was halfway then they told us we have to take more math, that meant advanced algebra and I just could not keep up.

So that meant go back into printing to see if I can keep going It took 10 jobs in 10 + years to regain wage 4 of this was the school I did parttime work in between had 4 of those jobs.

I should be making 2-3 times minimum wage as compared to a burger flipper. After all I run a 6 color printing press it takes more skill than that burger flipper and you must multitask. Your brochure is possible because of me 40+ yrs of this. Watch it I'll make your logo look orange instead of that nice deep red you like

They Need To Put TRADES back in Highschool you are not supposed to have a family and work at McD's that is for starting out in life to get a handle on business and stupid people/customers go learn be good at it then go to real job ready to rock.

my .02c for day thank you very much Time to melt the paint with the stereo lol

The Minimum wage argument has always been weak. Entry level jobs in these fields were never designed to support a person living independently, let alone with a family, they were starter jobs for kids in or just out of high school, and for the retired, looking for something to do to fill their days, and put a little spending money in their pocket. These people either lived with their parents still, or had other sources of income to cover their fixed expenses.

Here's the thing.. the idiots in both parties in Washington decided that it was a good thing to outsource all the skilled tradesman, as well as the good union assembly line jobs that we once had in abundance in this country. The same clowns who import cheap labor, by allowing illegal entry into the country, for the building trades.. The other side of that coin is that we have raised entire generations who think they don't have to work. When I talked to my contractor that did the work on our house, he flat out told me that he would love to not have to hire Mexicans to fill out his crews, the language barrier makes things difficult, but the kids these days simply don't have any work ethic.

Sure, the big corporations also had a hand in this, but the reality is they are in business to make money, and if you foster a business climate that makes it difficult to compete with USA made products, thru ridiculous regulation, then the businesses will do what is required to stay profitable.

Now your left with nothing but service jobs, and this is where the preposterous notion of a fast food job supporting a family originated.
