Replaced the idler arm today. Installed new halogens in front, they draw much less energy than the old power beams and T3's. Horns are working properly. Picked up some supplies to install the mini console and fire extinguisher tomorrow. Also figured out what I will need to clean the rest of the wheels. Spent a good hour hanging out at work with my buddies and their '59 Olds 98. Man was that thing cool! 4dr, white with power steering and windows. We cleaned the engine because we are clean freaks.

Didn't get to do anything today, just homework. Ohwell, maybe I'll get back into the habit of doing it all on friday. Although we did find out why the motor would stumble during wot. To rich, not enough air so we flipped the lid on the air cleaner. ALOT more responsive and your hear the quadrajet. :Brow: Bad thing is there is now a tick coming from the y-pipe. Maybe that will motivate me to get the new exhaust put on. :bglasses: I really eager to start cleaning alot of stuff for the shows. I did make a trip to Menards and found the carpet for the trunk. Now I just need to buy it.

Got the gauges mounted to the autometer cluster, they look great no leaks either. :) Gonna mount the mini console and fire extinguisher tomorrow now that I can. Also ging to hook up the voltage gauge now that I know how. Finally got around to cleaning the coolant temp sensor and found out its the original, works and doesn't leak anymore. Got a better trunk emblem on the Electra too. While I was tapping one of the screws out of the trunk all of the sudden a light appeared! I was shocked I had a trunk light. I never leaned over far enough to see it before and now it works, on and off. :bglasses: Also aligned the car this week. Toe was off as I thought, corrected that. Caster is off 1* so I might have a shop do that one to save me some time.

You do the alignment yourself? What kind of equipment do you use?

Yesterday I picked up 6 raylle wheels for free, today I'll pick up the other 9. The driver's side rear window fell off its track and is stuck about 2 inches away from closing. It can wiggle around but the motor doesn't make any sound. I'm going to pull the door panel on it today. Gonna try to wash the top, car and then wax it again. And clean all the door jambs.

    Hey Rob,
My window did the same thing in my 76..Since the 73 and the 76 look the same, and are the same part, I had to replace the bracket that the window bolts to because the roller broke off in the track..Mine also would not go up the last few inches..Take a look at that first since their is load on that track wheel it tends to pull out..Later! :Smarty:

Pulled the door apart today and comfirmed that the motor died. Im going to remove the one from the parts car now and try to install it before dark. I also picked up the other 10 raylle wheels and cleaned them. Still need to steel wool and polish them though.

Glad to see you found the problem.. ..those things are a pain to get at, aren't they?

Alright, got the motor seperated from the regulator on both cars. Hooked up the other motor and got nothing! The other three windows work. Testlamp indicates I have no power at the wire for the motor. I went to the switch on the drivers front door and got nothing also. :Do No: I have no clue what Im doing.

Did you try it with the key on?

Yea, key on and even moved the switches front and rear. Nothing.

Ok, had to make sure...even though it might appear obvious. I've been known to overlook stuff like that.

Got a wiring digram in your chassis manual? You DOOOO have one of those, right?:Brow: Follow the wiring road map..

Yea got one of those. Couldn't find anything for power windows earlier. Found the diagrams. It goes from the motor to the switch in one direction and the other thr front driver's switch and a relay in the LT. Kick pad. Not sure what that is but I hope that is my problem. A bad relay. Where is the lt kick pad? :Do No: Kick panel?

    Must be...

Nothing more fun than removing the entire hood release cable to get the stupid kick panel off...:Dou:

Take that back - it says it's located ABOVE the kick panel.

So driver's side under the dash? What does it look like, sorta like a square flasher unit, bare metal? I'll take the parts car one off rather than buy a new one.

Speaking of taking thing apart for simple jobs, I had to remove the sending unit for my coolant temp sensor from the engine, fish it through the firewall just to put it through the gauge cluster. :Dou: That was a dumb one on autometer's part.

Yeah, I was pissed about that when I installed mine.

The relay should be a small metal box with 3 wires....red with white stripe, orange with black stripe, and a pink wire.

I just went to confirm the location in my car, and it turns out that the last owner completely removed the relay and made a jumper wire to eliminate the keyed switch. That is why my windows will work even when the key is off.:Dou:
