Ok cool, now I know what may be wrong. Too bad Im going to have to dissasemble the entire rear door just to put the motor and regulator back in right. :Dou:  At least you don't need the key to do it, like most new cars. Thanks for your help Adam, I'll see what I get done tomorrow morning. :TU:

Rob, have you pulled the master window control switch from the drivers door to verify that you have power from the drivers rear switch??? Constant opening and closing of this door often breaks those wires. If you do find a broken wire here, you can easily run a new one to repair it.

I would not be surprised that you have a broken wire in the main harness from master control to the individual switches. Check that master switch for power first before going any further. :Smarty:

Welcome to the wonderful world of chasing power window gremlins.

Alright, got a real test light and confirmed that I have power at the wires for the window motor. It shows light in both directions for both the front and rear switch. I've tried 3 window motors and no luck. I know two of them worked in the parts car, not sure why they would just die too. What's wrong? :Do No:

Did you use another switch from the parts car??

No, the switches appear to operate fine because when I move them in bot directions the test light goes on. Is that what your asking? :Do No:

Just try one or two of them from the other car. It's 10 times easier than swapping motors out.

I think the problem is im not grounding any of the motors, because both wires in are positive. Up and down. The body is used as a ground. I'm gonna go play with it for a bit. Hopefully it doesn't rain too soon.

Gremlin caught and pinned for the count. The initial problem was the original motor was dead. The second problem with the rest of the motors was the circuit was not complete because it uses the body as the negative side. Positive side is the green and purple wires going in for up and down. All the other motors worked. I also figured out that a driver's side and passenger side motor are different. Opps. I sat there for 1/2 an hour trying to picture how it was supposed to go, but never got it right with that passenger side motor. Put the driver's side in and everything went together easily. Even got the spring in easily. The rest of the door panel is on too. Works great. This is easy now that I've done it. I'll do it again any time, or for that matter on anyone elses Buick. :bglasses: :beer

Washed the car, then waxed the front half. It started to drizzle so I stopped and put it away. Cleaned all the tires too. Gonna go back out, got more ideas brewing. :Brow: :bglasses: :3gears:

That window motor I replaced works much better than the others. Im thinking of opening up the other 3 and give them a good cleaning and fresh grease. But just thinkin.

:tu: good thing you found it, drives you nuts to chase electrical some times. I had to go through a lot to just find out a fuse had gone, and it looked just fine :Dou: , but was dead.

Rob, if you do a search, you should find postings from me about taking apart the motors. I have had to rebuild two now on my car, using brushes from other motors. Its pretty easy, you just have to be careful not to break the brush holder.

Alright, lets move the deadline to August 10th. When the car travels to Ohio for the BPG nationals. I dropped the rear end of the parts car, degreased the entire assembly drum to drum (I was covered in black grease when I was done), used a wire wheel on the heavy rust and then gave up on the wire wheel and used good old fashioned sand paper. The entire rear has one good coat on it but I still need to drain the old fluid, flush twice and then add fresh fluid, cover gasket and paint the cover.

Removed the dash pad today and made up the template for the maxtrac switch. :Brow: Im going to clean everything I can under the dash, possibly replace the two tweeters and one speaker also. My digital camera really show where the dirt is, especially in black interior. I also have some stickers to remove from the windshield and clean the corners/edges where it is plain dirty and some spots that have old adhesive. Gotta figure out why my antenna isn't hooked up, no wonder i had static. Looks like work will eat up my time this week from sat-wed. Hopefully Thursday I'll keep rolling along. :bglasses: :beer

Dropped the rear end in my car, and installed it in the parts car. Ahh, the power of air tools makes it so much easier. But I hate creepers, the offer no support and you can't work lying down nor can you get leverage. My shoulders constantly hit the metal edges and they always get stuck. But man, I love air tools. Lining the rear end up was the hardest part. My new 3-ton craftsman jack doesnt work that well, sure enough its made in china. :Dou: I'll finish putting a few more coats of paint on the posi, order a gasket, new fluid but not put it in till its in the car so I can perform a flush. Then testing begins with 4 extra tires. :Brow: :bglasses: :3gears: Ever notice how undercoating is dumb?

Better get a scraper of some kind, because if you do what I think you're gonna do, then you are going to be spending quite some time getting some of those rubber chunks from out of your wheel wells/and quarters. All I can say is have fun! :3gears: :TU:

Its all contained thanks to the fender skirts. :Brow:  :beer

That's apparently why all muscle cars should have had fender skirts.

Since school has been out i'm able to devote much more time to the Buick. The dash pad had been removed for about a month now and I almost ready to put it back on. Cleaned Everything that the dash pad covers up, thick layer of dust and dirt on everything. Removed all the dash bezels and glovebox to further the cleaning. Steering column got the same treatment. Max-trac is in. :bglasses: Rear-end received another partial coat of paint and will again tomorrow. Cover seal is in, will do that tomorrow also. Rolling along again.

Rear end paint is finished, unless I find a spot I missed. :Dou: Hopefully monday the gasket will be flat so I can flush the differential, add fresh fluid and seal it up. Dash is back together. Looks great, even got the old stickers off the windshield. Replaced 8 bulbs inside the car, I like illumination. :bglasses: I think there is only 1 more option I need to add to the inside of the car, and that should require the dashpad being removed. Its loaded by some standards but I can fill it up further. I think my next project will be a Centurion convertible, and proceed to load that car to the gills. :bglasses:  :Brow: I guess 1 pic is alright.
