Have you driven it enough to get a feel for the quicker 1st and 2nd gear shifts from the lower gearset and how it gets your Sherman moving ?
Impossible to tell on street tires. Traction is a BIG problem. It goes sideways nicely from a punch, though.
Shhhhhhhhhhhhhh...... But in my defense... all brand new, "Big Name" equipment. I sure as heck shouldn't have to eat it as a consumer. Maybe TCI and Jegs should send the bill to B&M. The Derale cooler/fan unit works great!
OK. Except for a few minor tweaks it is finished. I have not had an opportunity to wring it out as of yet, so I still don't know if the "nosing over" problem is fixed, but I CAN say that just around town this transmission shifts better than the other one by a wide margin. Here is a new pic! <a href="http://s253.photobucket.com/albums/hh41/1badriv/?action=view&current=snout.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh41/1badriv/snout.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
Well, after SEVEN straight days of rain I FINALLY got to drive my machine for quite a while today. And I am 100% sure the laying over problem was indeed the transmission. It pulls incredibly hard to 5500 just like I want it to. Shifts hard as well. And here is the possible tell-tale sign... this new transmission KICKS DOWN into passing gear. The old transmission didn't. May or may not be related, but regardless, I can finally put this long winded chapter to rest. All new fuel system, new sending unit, swapped complete ignition systems more than once, drove it with open headers and I'm sure there are many other things I did trying to chase this problem down. This is one for the books!
So, it was the 413 cam afterall? I suspected so! I'm glad you got it sorted out. You were definitely rolling the rock uphill on this one! One bout of bad luck after another. I know you posted most of it here, but there were additional back stories of missing one small piece, or something else unrelated suddenly not working; more than one time getting the one new part in the batch with the defect shipped to you and after install, removal, working the phones having to wait for a replacement.... It took a lot of fortitude and I think if this latest round of changes didn't work out, you'd have used all of yours up! Glad you're having fun with the car rather than it being a constant irritant! All's well that ends well!!!:TU: :beers2: :beer :TU:
Yardley I'm sure you have posted pictures of your Riv in the past but this is the first time I have seen it. Man what a beauty.:TU: Bob H.
Yardley's Riv defines BadAzz Buick Street Machine ... ... A 12 second street pounder that'll cruise all day in the heat of summer on the turnpike with the A/C blasting and the stereo crankin If only he dressed a little better
Thanks, Bob. Yeah, the scoop turned out much better than I could have imagined. I agonized over the decision whether to go back to the B4B or stay with the SP1. And if I kept the SP1, which scoop to use? In the end I'm happy as all get out. And it is WEIRD peering over the dashboard and seeing that huge honkin' scoop sittin' out there!
