TA 4 bolt main block holds up to 7.59 @ 181mph so far... trans not so much

Considering the trans is on it's way out... again... it was a good day at the track.

    7.59 @ 181 mph 1.10 60ft in 95* sticky heat and a mild tune

Way to go Rod & Danie! That's a pretty fast bracket car you got there :pp . What's the best eigth mile time so far? You guys should check out the Jegs Quick Series. The quickest you can go is 4.50, but door cars get a 2 tenth handicap during qualifing, so a door car can qualify all the way to a 4.30. Also the bump at the last Top Comp race was 7.56. Keep it up and you guys will be running with the fastest bracket racers around.

Hope to see you in Salem.

Can you confirm that you guys are coming to Salem?

If so, would you guys match up and run Billy Anderson in his turbo car?

I would come just to see that shoot out for the Buick V6 /v8 bragging rights. You will have Mike T. himself there helping Rod with the tune.

    Thanks Everyone!

Hey!! I'm only a one woman pit crew, pictures were not on the top of my list of things to do..... Which really bums me out cause he was grinning ear to ear when I told him he hit the 7.50's.

The plan is to make it to Salem...... but we have to figure out the trans problem first. It doesn't seem to want to hold up more than 6 passes. Looks like we're going to have to upgrade over the winter.

We're up for a grudge race with Bill. I'm sure he won't have a problem with it either.

    R & D -

Are these new "quickest" times due mainly to the new chassis? Or did you change engine setups when you went to the 4-bolt block?

    Just curious?

Well,, The Chassis has a ton to do with it. This car is about 2500lbs where the Hawk was at 3000lbs, so there is a lot of help from the loss of weight. Plus this car is set up to do this. The Hawk started out as a street car and didn't really have plans of going 7's when it was first built. Rod has said that 7's in this car are a breeze going down the track.

Rod and I do feel that the block would not of held together this long with out the 4 bolt main and the other mods done to the block. I think Rod was going to see how things go these next few weeks and try to pull the oil pan to check things out. So far we haven't had one issue with the block, she's holding together quite nicely :) She's got a lot more in her that's for sure. If we can get a trans to stay together maybe we can get it out of her.

    Rod and Danie,

Congrats... thats an awesome pass!!!! So is this officially the FASTEST Buick pass ever?

For your transmission issues.... www.rosslertrans.com Contact John Shmidt, he had one for sale.

They have the best transmissions around.. but they are not cheap.

Nope. Billy Anderson went 7.25 at Cecil at our race last October and Buddy Ingersoll went 7.20 back in '86. Or did you mean V-8 Buicks only? If that's what you meant, then yes this was the fastest pass ever by a V-8 powered Buick. Scotty's best pass was a 7.68. CONGRATS to Rod and Danie!! :TU:
