How many times do I have to say that I don't want to manually shift the car? I will set the governor up to shift it where I want it to shift. What do I need a shift light for that? The tach is much easier to see than a bunch of rapidly changing L.E.D. lights also.

I've driven the car to Cecil round trip twice now. The car has also been to Ohio, and numerous times to New Jersey and Pennsylvania as well as upstate NY and Connecticut. I can drive it anywhere, but if I am going to be tuning it, and changing things, the trailer is a nice thing to have just in case. Any car can break at any time, street car, track car, whatever. I think you are full of it about that Gold Car. Take a 100 mile plus trip with me that includes stop and go in summer heat, and then maybe I'll believe some of what you say.

You know Chris, you like poking people don't you? So how come you can't take what you dish out?

Um you are talking about using a tach here. Yes?

Take what? And you don't have to believe what I say, don't care what you think. This isn't my first rodeo Larry. Just because you don't have a 10 second street car doesn't mean Dave or others don't. Do what is good for you and I have never tried to force you to do anything just for the record other then tell you that your approach is wrong for your stated goal, there is a big differences.

I had to go shopping yesterday so I could wade through all the bs here and I am sure glad I got the ones that go up to the chest not the hips http://www.sierratradingpost.com/it...PCGOOGLECA4&currency=CAD&codes-processed=true

I don't care if you run mid to high 11's but when it comes to 1/4 miles mph tells the story. You say you are happy running these times, end of story. No excuses needed just enjoy the car and forget the bench racing. And stop telling me I am mad when I am not. When the caps lock is on then you will no I am mad. Where is the big shoulders you talk about?

PS, did you notice that the 65 with the little LS, weighs 240lbs less then you, has a OD/lockup trans and 520hp is kicking your a$$? Not a race car.

Oop's I think you have some double post going on, maybe you hit the send button too hard buddy!

Do me a favor. I don't want your input anymore. Please don't post any more advice. I'm getting tired of your BS.

    Larry,

JW may be on to something with the 4L80e. It could be the best of both worlds. Certainly would be worth doing a little research on.

Larry I'm sure you'll get it sorted out. Not sure if you follow the Turbo forums or not but here is a interesting thread talking about the 4l80e. Some input from Lonnie Diers from Extreme Automatics on this trans. You may already know Lonnie is a well respected trans builder in the TB community. Oh, not trying to through more mud into the mix, just some interesting reading

If you do go with the 4L80E,utilize it with your gear vendors unit. Maybe it will bolt up to the 4L80E(not sure)because it is basically a TH400 with O/D. You'll need to shorten the driveshaft if you use the gear vendors unit, but you'll need a longer one if you don't use it.

I know the 4L80E will be in the future if you do,and I still think you'll get kicked off the track with higher rpm shifts and dialing your launch rpm with your current setup.(or at least told to slow it down)

Make it an 8 speed and overdrive the overdrive! :Brow:

    .75 x .75 = .5625 final O/D gear,would make your highway MPG even gooder.

Or get a 6 speed Bionic 4L80E and make it a 12 speed with the gear vendors;

    I agree with Jim N ...

Call up Lonnie Dyers and tell him what you have, see if one of his 2004R's with a lockup converter would hold up.

Considering your Limited race usage, and the fact he seems to be convinced that his 200 is good to 850 ft lbs, then that would be the ticket for you.

Ask him if you can lock up the converter at WOT...

I almost recommended that, but not being a 200 builder, I simply don't have the experience to recommend that trans for your application, but Lonnie seems to.

See what is warrantee is.. that will tell you how much he believes in his product.

The 200 would be a load lighter, less expensive, and easier to install, for sure. I have used a couple 200's in less demanding situations than yours successfully, and there are many guys on the board who also use it.

I had Lonnie's Stage 1 200-4R in my car for 2 years. Not only did it handle countless mid to low 11 second passes, it also endured a dozen or so low 10 second passes on a 150 shot of nitrous. When I pulled my converter out for a re-stall, I sent it back to to Extreme and had it upgraded to a Stage II. Even Lonnie was kind of surprised that a Stage 1 build held up to those power levels. I told him I intended to run 9s with the Stage II and he said "go for it!"

I am running one of Lonnies 2oo also. He asked me what engine I was going to put it behind and I told him a nailhead with north of 500 TQ. He just laughed and said to put it in low and hold that nailhead WFO until the rods come out the side of the block and you still wont hurt his 2004r :Dou:. I said ok I will take one. After talking with a few other builders I went with him.:TU:

Larry as you know I pulled the 200-4R out of my 53 and went with a S/P 400 and GV. While there is nothing wrong with the set up I sure miss the 200 with the lock up converter.
At 65 to 70 MPH I'm turning about 200 more RPMs. My fuel mileage isn't quite as good either. I'm seriously considering going back to a overdrive automatic with a lock up
converter. Probably a 4L80E though unless I could get a 200 I was comfortable with. You're a smart guy and I know when you get this all sorted you'll make the right choice.
    Good luck.:TU:

Thanks Guys. I have lots of choices, and a lot of thinking to do. First, I'll do the testing and tuning I should have done at the track in the past.

Being that you are only racing a few times a year I think you are best off sticking with your current setup. You have low rpm on the highway due to the gear vendors, you have a good high stall and a good low stall setting. Sure another Trans may be a bit better but you already have a really good combo. I would say that the money would be better spent on any hr Hardparts rear roll bar and adjustable front and rear shocks..

Larry already has a hr parts rear sway bar and I believe he added front adjustable shocks last year

No adjustable shocks yet. I'm not doing anything until I get the car to the track with a 6000 RPM upshift. I will also have a wide band O2 on the car at that time, and we will try to dial the carburetor in.

My current setup is hurting me some on the street. The high stall is too high for regular stop and go. The low stall is a bit too low. I'd really like something in between if I can get it. I may be able to borrow a 400 and converter from one of the N.E guys just to try it out. That's later though. I'm not giving up on the SP/GV combo. I have a long way to go.

Thought you had adjustable shocks since you referred to them in post #188 here http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.p...-Dyno-tested&p=2247636&highlight=#post2247636
