I have heard stories of a recent sale on a GSX, for $225,000.. Stories from "reliable sources". This car will break no "new ground" should it sell for such a price. It's already happened folks. While I love to drive and race GS's, and own a couple drivers, and a race car or two myself, but for any of us to sit here and call the very few among us, who will go to every last detail, and spend what it takes, to make the car exactly as the factory intended, "not real Buick guys" is a slap in the face. While a "full boat", tag and paint splotch resto may not be your cup of tea, the guys that do enjoy that are no more or less a Buick fanatic than any racer. The argument can be made that they may be more of a fanatic, if anything. From my point of view, having built 800 HP engines and full tube race cars, the concours cars are just as much a challenge to build, if not more so, than any kind of GS. It's just a different challenge. The great thing about the hobby we have, is that there is room for eveyone, from those who just want a nice 350 Skylark to putt around in, to the full blown racer, to the pristine restoration guys. I feel it's arrogant and foolish to attempt to "classify" one type of enthusiast over another.
Not At All  I guess I should of been more clear, I don't disagree that 69Zs or GSX's bring in big dollars and hey you own your car so if you want it to be a garage queen thats fine also. I didn't mean to offend the upper class, sorry for the comment But I am getting wore out by people that keep trying to drive the prices of our cars up with phoney bidding. The same thing has happened over and over again on ebay. The last real auction I saw happen and maybe the only auction I've seen go through on e-bay on the higher end of the price scale was the X china mike bought. I think its time these guys went back to speculating the stock market and stop the phoney bidding on our hobby. Unless the money changes hands this type of bidding means NOTHING. This car is very very nice but a restamp on the block is like a rebody to me, I wouldn't like it if I spent big money only to find out it was just a block from a big old lesabre. Maybe I'll win the loto and buy a bunch of these X's up and hide them a way for no one to enjoy ou: Sorry Guys I just think there a cool car to be enjoyed by everyone not just the rich.Chris
I think you'd be surprised how many cars are sold in private sales.....a lot of "big buck" cars never see e-bay....
gsx on ebay seems this GSX could have set a standard for the auto a/c cars at it`s early visit on ebay and would not be getting scruintized at this time.
To The Top... I was at Floyd Garrets Muscle Car Museum last November, and they said there was a sale pending at that time. I have since heard the car has been sold, but do not know the details (the new owner or sale price) . I know they call it a "Private Sale" for a reason, but I was curious since this car was so well known for the last few years. Anyone?
