It is a great looking car isn't it? At least your right about one thing! I saw John's car several times throughout the restoration process. My cousin (John Osborne) did all the mechanical work and most of the final assembly to the car. The original numbers are still on the block. Maybe it's time to take off the troll costume and go get your eyes examined.

So it was John Osborne that restamped the block, let him tell the true story if he would. He knows the same as I. So John tell all. farmer!boy

That is one exceptional vehicle John. You should be a proud owner! This car has has been shown numerous times and has been chosen as "Top Dog". Great example of a "Great" muscle car!

Why would I care, well for those of us that have numbers matching cars(with original stampings) who got their car early and cheap or like me paid out of my @$$ for one don't need more showing up. Supply and demand, if more restamping is done and more socalled numbers cars show up it slows the prices from increasing on the good ones. Their are alot of people that want a #'s matching GSX but not enough that can pay the price. And was it your own decision not to bid higher or did your kids take your wallet? farmer!boy

Agree. I think it's the claim to be #1 that sets off the emotions. It's not really helpful. I have access to a basically identical car that won best GS-GSX at the nats in 1989. All matching numbers with 49K miles. What's the difference? At that level they're all the same. I still can't get my mind around over $100K yet, sorry but that's just me. So if I buy this 49K mile GSX for $100k is it a great deal? Not in my mind, sorry. I'd rather have three great Stage1 cars without the stripes because that's just about the only thing that makes them different. Or maybe one Stage1 car and $60K in Exxon stock paying 3% dividends with no storage space and going up faster in value.

Agreed, that must be one very "SPECIAL" paint job.

All the talk/speculation about values is just silly, and it causes some folk to loose their composure. I really hope John finds a "happy" buyer for his nice GSX...I'm sure he doesnt want any hard feelings.

So lets get back to the garage and our plans for our own cars. :TU:

Spring is in the air! :TU:
Back that Muscle car out of the garage, wipe it down, tune it, then go thrash/enjoy it...it's the American way. :3gears:

PS If you wanna talk investments, get your real estate face on...that be were the REAL money is. :Smarty:

    My opinion...

Last weekend I went to a Air Museum with a lot
of beautiful old aircraft that no longer soar. I
couldn't help but wonder of the excitement that
people used to experience when seeing and hearing
these old aircraft fly. Not to mention those that
enjoyed the piloting or being a passenger.
In my opinion, it's a shame another Buick has to spend
the rest of its life in a coffin. :(
Driving my Stg.1 GSX, is worth more to me than the greenbacks.
    Thats just my opinion...

A car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it.Last time this was on Ebay it went to $180k and did not meet reserve. At the same time a 70 QQ "X" #'s 4 speed car was on that needed resto,it went to $60+k,didn't meet reserve, doesn't it seem reasonable that one could've bought the resto one and put $70K in a resto and been able to make a cool $50k if the true market value is over $180k?When a car that goes this high is sold, and money and title changes hands, then the true value will be set.Is this "X" worth nearly $200k,when compared to mopar hemis and some rare chevys, definately, will it really get that high only time will tell.I hope it does, our "X" then will be worth more, but then all the fun will be taken out of using it,oh the dilemna!

    Mine will sell for...

I will sell mine for $5.00...
    after I die...
    to my son...
but only if he agrees to enjoy and drive it!
Then this one "maybe" will be the number #1
GSX in the country that is still "on the road"
that was once owned by a Catholic Priest.

    Paid Not Bids

Your right, they have PAID $200,000 plus, thats alot different then a auction that people push the bidding up to make a car LOOK like its worth more then it really is. Its funny the real buick guys seam to drive and enjoy there cars and could give a rats a$$ what its worth. I think most people can see through these games, if this is what people need to do to stroke there egos then so be it, I could care less if my cars are worth $50 or $500,000 I WILL drive them and race them. After all that is what they were designed for :TU: Chris
