I just don't understand how the kids that i work with are making ends meet these days.....there is not an hourly job at the Half Moon other than mine that pays more than $15.00 an hour.....but they are all driving small cars like me :D

Gas and everything consumable are up. I don't know how the average employee can even keep up. I feel for my kids raising a family. Wages are not rising like the prices. Housing continues to balloon our county just released their valuations and they are up an average of 34%.

Oh yeah, they all want to cash in while the getting is good, the tax assessor in my town underestimated the numbers for the year the third and fourth quarter went up. Final bill was almost 500 more they’re currently going around reassessing the houses now I’m expecting another 1500 in 2024. This is not the country we all grew up in.

I filled up the Wildcat with Shell's finest at $4.59 per gallon this weekend. It sure hurts to spend $50 to take a long (120 mile) drive.

Yea... I'm happy to have the job I have...sorta... but I do drive 170 miles a day to and from work. Fortunately, Base/Post gas is a little cheaper than downtown. Right now it's in my F-150..but when it gets cooler, my Triumph Rocket III will take me there.

Between 1975-1980 prices went thru the roof on gas and everything else, gas was .50C a gallon in 77 and that was not cheap at the time and by 1980 it was at a buck.
The price increases back then went up higher and quicker than what has just happened. I have put out more money in gasoline than anything else I buy in life, my credit card bears that out now just how much gas costs and it has never been cheap. It is usually the biggest money grab. I think the rest of the utilities are now going to catch up now if you get my drift.

My F150 gets 17 mi a gal avg. I think I can get that out of a 350 engine built to pro specs and run the Q-jet and I bet you can get better than that. The gas costs way more than the mileage we get. Really unfortunate because I have always liked cruising for an hr or so. sad for sure.

    Yes it is very sad!
Probably going to the track just once this season, MAYBE twice.
Having to pay stupid prices for EVERYTHING takes all the enjoyment out of living.
Go to work, come home, go to work, come home, repeat

Dumping trillions of freshly printed dollars into the economy has consequences... Who could have imagined?

The worst part is that we have learned nothing and next time there is a hiccup in the economy, the printing presses will be put into high gear again.

People should read on the Cantillon effect.

We should have empathy for the younger folks. They are figuring out that the system is not going to put them ahead. Heard Oliver Anthony's Rich Men North of Richmond song?

If you're traveling further east towards Manitoba, be aware there's a wind warning in effect. Gusts up to 80-90 kph are expected, with some areas in Manitoba possibly over 100 kph.

I'm so glad I drive a company car and they pay for gas and everything. But other times when friends invite you for a drink after work, I can't do that. Going back into town in my personal vehicle isn't going to happen either, because I rather get home have a few beers and be in my shop. I usually invite them to come over and drink with me in the shop, much cheaper! So at times like these when fuel price is up, I don't hurt as much!

More people than ever here, living in tents and under blue tarps near the community food bank. Am guessing this is "spillover" from californium and arizona, due to official sanctuary city status here now (las cruces nm). The city bought a sizable portion of Industrial zoned property, west of downtown, to build several buildings, land for a tent city, and now a food warehouse. City coffers are overflowing with tax revenue from new luxury housing here, so am assuming they can afford it, no problem. But real jobs here?!? Kind of a Joke.

    Yep, I hear yah!
My cousins wife keeps hen pecking me “Mark we all gotta get together for dinner” Me “ Uh, no we don’t”
I’m content doing the same as you, come home maybe do yard work, putz in the garage, or whatever, I save money doing that for the inevitable “gotta fix or replace that” scenario

The present value of .329 (A gallon of regular gasoline in 1962) is $3.18 in 2022. Gas is more expensive today, but not by as much as you would think. There is a much greater demand, and they are not making more of it.
