Wow,with all the responses to this thread, can somebody possibly have a set of good tail light bezels for a '65 Skylark?? BTW,very nice cars you guys have!!!!!:TU:
I bought the car with no engine or transmission, but found a MR code 401 locally. Its a 4-speed car, working on getting a T-10 and proper shifter. Engine is stock bottom end, .040 Ohio pistons, top end is extrude hone intake and heads. I will get it started with an Edelbrock carb but its built for a Holley...
Holy Cow!!!!! That's expensive!!! I don't think my friend wants to spend that much money(even though I told him those are not going to be cheap). He'd be willing to pay have that for a nice decent pair.
Ted, looks like the 65 is coming along very nicely! It's looking good! I'm amazed how you can make progress on so many cars at once (or is that just an illusion??). So what are Ohio pistons? I never heard of them. I have a line on a '65 T10....if I can find the phone number! Are you interested? And for a shifter, many GM's used the same shifter mechanism, but with unique handles for each application. I found a Corvette(or ?) shifter for $15 identical to my 65 GS shifter. All I had to do was find the correct handle on eBay. Keep up the great work!:beers2:
Then why not run a holley? Love the stick. I just got my first stick. It's only a 3 speed but still cool as hell. I scored a 40 yr old floor Hurst shifter NOS. On evil bay.
Ted, the car looks fantastic! The look with wheel and tire combo is disturbingly similar to one parked in my garage........... :beer Mark
Walt, I think its an illusion. Its the last 25% that is up to me and that is a problem getting them done. I have a line on the T-10...I have to put the "wrong" gearset into it, need wide ratio not 2.2:1 1st gear. Joe, I will get a Holley eventually-it will be easier to start up with a proven carb (and already on the shelf) Mark, Great minds think alike! I have the TTD wheels on my wagon because of a certain '65 GTO's influence( one shows up at the local shows with thase wheels). I really like their look. Thanks for the compliments! IT will be awesome to get one of the nail's running this year! This one has the Telesco's on it too, I cannot wait to enjoy the power of Telesco through the 4-speed.
I bough mine like 8-9 yrs ago from Speedway(Jerks if you want my opinion) and paid 750. Not %100 sure, I don't remember.
Thanks. The wheels are 17" Intro Vistas. They are made to look similar to the old Hurst wheels. I think the matte like finish (actually laser etched to look cast)on the inner spoke looks good on 64's. They match the side trim well. Mark
My '65 with stock suspension and cragars and then with 17" TT2s, hotchkis coils and edelbrock shocks.
One I put a lot of time, effort, and of course money into, then sold it. I've made several mistakes like that over the years.
