My DD is a 2011 Caprice 9C3 (top image), since Dec 2012, an AWESOME vehicle. No problem in Minnesota winters with snows. Now actually running all season Firestone Destination LE2's, and they are also adequate. Body is standing up to Minnesota salt, not rusty underneath after 6 winters, and nothing showing on the body. Recently obtained a brand new 2017 Caprice 9C1 (bottom image) as well, will keep the 2011 with 71k miles for my son.

    You will not be sorry!

Honestly? Door number three might be OK. We bought my better half a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek about a year ago and haven't regretted it. The car rides really well, is just the right size for her, and gets great mileage around town. Looking at the back seat, I would think getting car seats in and out wouldn't be too much of a chore either. We opted for the 6 speed manual, but I've heard good things about the automatic as well. Does great in the snow or wet weather.

Only downside there would be the car payment, but they're not extremely expensive if you opt for one of the base models. My advice would be if you go that route to get the option package that's one up from the base model - it's only an $800 or so upgrade, but it's worth it. I wish we had done that when we got ours.

I’ve owned 2wd trucks prior and never had an issue. Even got stuck in some snow storms going over mountain passes and was fine. (They has closed vail pass because of it, ended up being one of the first back on the road after they opened it).

Really I’m afraid I’m going to just go crazy with it modding like I’ve done in the past with vehicles. Trucks and suvs I’ve been able to just keep it to basic things (my Tahoe is lowered and I’ve got a camshaft and dod delete stuff waiting to go on come spring) and I’ll never go more than that. Trucks keep my car disease mostly in check lol

Looking at interior dimensions between her current car and a crosstrek, it’s got 2” more rear leg room and .6” more head room. It does have a height advantage though.

Price is s factor. Kids aren’t cheap. We have the money to buy another Tahoe or caprice outright, we’d have to finance nearly $20k for a crosstrek not to mention pay out the ass for plates for 9 years. I haven’t looked at insurance yet.

Yep and if it didn’t have dod I wouldn’t do a cam. But I easily justified it in my mind that I might as well get a stage 2 vvt cam from Texas speed to “fix” it lol.

I don’t want to take away money and time from getting my Buick back on the road. I’ve even thought about selling my cucv k5 to help with that which makes me a little sad.

I'm thinking you're a fan of fasterproms on youtube? I've been lusting after one of the Caprices for a while. I can't justify it because I have an 04 GTO just sitting here. I've also wanted a G8, but that's probably not going to happen. The local auction (JGM Auctions in Kenmore) has Caprices roll through every month or every other month. I think they go anywhere between $6500-$8500 depending on condition.

Never heard of it. I have a friend with a 600+hp 2013 caprice and I’ve always liked govt vehicles hence why I have an ex military truck and ex border patrol Tahoe.

I just want the wife to be in something she feels comfortable driving and using so if it’s a Tahoe then she can either have mine and I’ll get a caprice just to have something different, or just have two tahoes. This is probably the first vehicle I’ve owned in 6 years that I truly really love and enjoy driving and looking at.

Smokey15 So old that I use AARP bolts.

There are a few CTS-Vs heavily modified in our vicinity. Damned fast!

I was at a gas station last year and there was a car carrier with a load of police Caprices....I looked at the window stickers and they all had the POS 3.6 V6.
Glad there are LS ones out there....I might look for one some day......

ebay is a great place to find those LS powered cop cars....Chicago and Tulsa seem to be the hot bed of LS powered cars...

I bought my Tahoe from Chicago motors. I’d be buying from them again regardless if it’s a Tahoe or caprice.

So I’ve decided a caprice is the way to go, but now it’s been a struggle just trying to buy one. There’s one local but the guy is asking a lot and the car just doesn’t seem worth it. Trying to find someone to look at a car at Chicago motors I’m interested in. Hopefully that pans out.

To update this, his car made 666whp thru stock exhaust on 93. This was just to get it driving and it’s getting a vacuum actuated cutout and bigger pump to run e85. He’s shooting for 800whp on e85

There’s one guy in my area that puts out about 600 to the wheels. He was a bit tipsy one night and pulled into the gas station where my friend and I were filling up at around 11 pm. He said hey wanna see something cool? (He knew my friend as a car guy previously)
He filled up, and laid rubber out of the gas station for over a hundred feet before catching traction and the ass swung back underneath it and he hauled away
