This is not the only hobby I am involved in. I can tell you that the same thing goes on in virtually every hobby there is.

There will always be unscrupulous people who take advantage. In a very real way they have a hand in your pocket. I'm too busy enjoying myself, this site and my car to notice.

Somebody out there sees this site as an opportunity to make a few bucks instead of enjoying it for what it is meant to be?
I pity them, if I think of them at all.

1967 Big Buick One day at a time.

My Ebay username is : 1967 Bigdaddy

I buy and sell and i'm not affraid to say it.

Everyone here know's that your description and mine aren't the same, i've bought both here and on ebay only to find out the part is not up to my standards. So off to ebay it goes. sometimes at a lost but that's life.

I've seen parts on this board that fellow board members have listed for a fair price (my opinion) and other fellow board members trash the guy for asking to much money, telling them "Good Luck". If i feel no board member wants it for the asking price i will contact the seller only after it has been posted for a couple of weeks. In hopes to make a few bucks to fund my Buick projects.(If this is wrong giving the guy his asking price we shouldn't have a parts for sale thread).
Nobodies made of money so we have to do what we have to do to survive and our Buicks to survive. If it wasn't for this i wouldn't have been able to pay for some of the more pricer Buick items.

I've said my piece and hope this gives you an ideal of how i operate.

I always seem to buy high and sell low. I usually only buy what I want/need for my cars and I pay what its worth to me. Re-Sell value is not a consideration, if I want it, I try to get it. I have bought from lots of guys from this board and never a bad transaction, and generally dont resell any of it because I need the stuff anyway. I have sold a lot on this board (never on ebay, though I think its a good thing) and dont recall anyone reselling the stuff, though I dont think it would bother me. I have given away lots of stuff too, but only to people I feel could use a break.

Lots of good buyers and sellers on this board.

there is a similar thread now on one of the parts forums, but i will post here instead since this thread has resurfaced. while i think we are assaulting an expired equine, i have more comments.

we could sit here and neg each other over misunderstandings or whatever, which will only divide us, or we can do like the rest of the planet, where once you sell something, you give up any right to be concerned with what happens to it later.

what ? send somebody a check, and get neg fb on the board ? i know i dont want to buy from anyone who thinks they should neg me if i decide to resell the item. let em keep the D part.

buyers should not mislead a seller about their intentions, that would be pathetic, but if an item is for sale, the seller needs to learn to let go. as for the stuff in pay it forward, alot of that is just junk that had one foot in the junkyard, and the other foot on a banana peel, so even those sellers need to let go. and anything in the for sale forum is fair game for all. pay ebay fees, and end the auction early w/ the bidder of your choice if you feel a need to control the future of the item. it wont work, but maybe some sellers will feel better about it that way.

no buyers remorse, no sellers remorse, and no whining.

this post is not directed at you jim. i just posted in this thread because it gets more visibility than the other thread.

    say cheese

There are a few folks whose FS posts I avoid. They are always pumping and dumping something. When no one bites, they keep beating the drum. Enough already!

If someone voices his boredom with profiteering, he is labeled a whiner. Whatever. Everyone is entitled to his opinion, right?

If people want to turn parts/cars to feed their habit (read as "have nicer stuff than the next guy"), I really don't care. However, when someone's "inventory" doesn't move, watch who starts sqwaking.

Threats of parting cars out, E-baying, leaving the hobby, etc have become cliche'.

hi john, this topic is one that i have strong feelings about for sure, i guess because buying and selling parts is what i do. since every deal is different, it would be hard for any third party readers to judge whether any neg fb posted is really justified or not. neg fb postings should be used only in the case of fraud IMO.

while i do agree with many that a person should not tell a seller: aw man, i really need that part to get my car ready for the GS show next week, and then turn around and list it on ebay.

it seems that some would have a problem with a person who buys from a bb listing to turn around and put the part on ebay. i have no problem with that. i wish someone would buy the items i have listed, and then put them on ebay ( or do as they see fit. )

as i stated earlier, if a buyer finds a better item, or changes the plans for their car, they should be able to do as they wish with the item they purchased without the seller giving them neg fb on the board.

i donate to the board, i've offered free parts or bargains to members, and i help out where i can, so i hope people reading this dont think i am one of the bad guys just because i buy auto parts and resell them for a higher price. i am honest and up front in all my dealings, so if anyone does have a problem with the fact that i buy parts, then offer them up at a higher price, well that is their problem.

i think i agree with everything you posted.
i am not familiar with the palmers from the BP.

david, i dont consider anyone a whiner unless they post neg fb just because someone resold a part. to post a neg over something so trivial would be whining in my book. and i agree about the cliche.

I do not think this is needed because the Ebay section on our V8 Board. Just go to that section and hit search. If we started listing the bad guys here we may be able to weed them out. Scott Miller has givin me lots of GS parts and to think there are members out there that would put there greed in front on the hobby just :af: :af: :af: :af: . AL.

I think they should be black listed because some of us need those parts for our cars and dont have alot to spend at one time on them. They dont need them they just want to make money on someone else's generosity, we should make a list of people on the board restoring there cars, and parts they need, and pm them before you list it for someone else to buy and resell. I know there is a parts wanted section but threeds go dead fast.
    Thanks

NO Way! As far as I am concerned you did the right thing, posted it here first and when no one claimed it you did what most of us would do, sell it on Ebay.

I have read many of the posts in this area and I am a little disapointed with the tone of the whiners about not getting the "profit from the parts " that they felt they should. Like has been stated if you want more form a part ask for more!!! I have even seen people ask others not to bid on an item because they want it now thats a little cry babyish if you ask me :Dou:

The reality of the matter is that this is a free forum for ALL people to vent and yes we can cry and moan :ball: about not getting the parts we want at that super deal but to we offer to give money to people when we get a super buy ???? Maybe we should ask all those who want freebies to give to a board slush fund when they save money on a part.

If you are Not GROWN up enough to play then get out of the sand box

In the market any thing is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it PERIOD!!!

I laugh at board members asking how much something is worth :eek2: when the people they ask have never seen the item or even know the economic situation of the area or the other comparable items in that same part of the counrty :Do No:

Lets all grow up and play like adults and stop being such babies about a few pennies which were not even most of yours to start with

And those who want a deal because they have limited funds ... well I have my own children to help I do not need any of yours

Sorry if i have offend any one not my intent but this is a FREE forum

I've only used ebay for 6 months. I see parts on ebay that were for sale here that got no response. No big deal.
I might be missing something because I've yet to see something posted on the V8 Buick site sold & then up for bids on ebay. I got to pay closer atten. to what goes on here.
I think most people post things for sale here to help out the Buick community. I also think people can do what they want with their money. But if they mess with someones generousity they will get it in the end. In a big way.

if someone here gets a deal on something that is offered for all to buy, then that person is entitled to do what he/she wishes with that purchase. if someone says they need a part and then scams that part off on ebay at a profit because someone was being a good guy and let that part go cheap with intentions of helping out a fellow member, the scammer should rot in a dark hole of guilt for ever. ethics is a tough subject to try to spread acrossed any kind of diverse group. the only thing most of us on this site have in common is an appreciation for the same brand of car. beyond that, a large percentage also have pretty much the same moral values, but not all of us see the same things the same way. if i go to a yard sale and buy a picture and find out it is a van gogh, i have the right to take it to antiques roadshow and make a bundle. if i collect food stamps and turn around and sell them for drugs, i should go to hell. pretty basic.
