no blacklists ! i agree with dean. if i buy an item, i wont try to tell the seller what to do with the money, and i dont think he should have any concerns about what i do with the part. if an item sells too high, or too low, its up to the seller to know what price he wants, just as its up to a buyer to not pay too much. a deals a deal, then its time to move on a forget about it. with that said, if a seller feels badly about something, then they can always refuse to sell to that buyer later on down the road.

speaking of road, i just covered 2400 miles between here and MN, so later. henry

I Have To Agree With Dean!

    Dean,
I whole heartedly agree with you.If someone puts a price on a part & another person buys it-then the buyer should be able to do whatever he wants with it.Sell it on e-bay or smash it to bits. You can't sell something to a person & act like you still own it.
I sell parts dirt cheap all the time-Do i care if the person that bought it turns around & resells for a profit? No i could care less-bottom line i got my asking price.
Does the junkyard guy that sells me a car for $125.00 follow up on me to see how much i sold each and every part for?If i put the parts on E-bay?No absoluetly not!He got his asking price! He's happy!!
    Me on e-bay=jhjarboe

    Am I a Bad Person?

Am I a bad person? Confession time. I bought 1 grille stud from someone on this post last month. I needed it to complete the set for a C+ quality GS grille I have. Soon afterwards I was able to buy a NOS grille and didn't need the used grille. I sold it last week on Ebay in a lot of skylark / gs parts after I tried to sell them on this board (no responses). Did I do an injustice to a member of this board by reselling his part, or am I trying to make to much out of this issue? Or did I allow another member of the buick community the opportunity to complete his cars front end at whatever cost he was willing to pay? (I made no profit on the deal, but thats not the issue)

I have a hard enough time day to day keeping a check on my morals, motives and how I treat others. That doesn't leave me any time to be checking on the motives of everyone around me. Hope this email finds everyone in good spirts heading into the weekend, George "Scarlet "E"bay" Berry

Good idea Adam. Sometimes when a link to E-bay is listed here I'll jump over and take a look. I always wonder if it's a board member winning the item.
Mine is Specman everywhere except E-bay where it was already taken. There it is Specmonkey:laugh:

While some good points have been made,

I feel as the mod of this forum it is my duty to chime in before this becomes an ongoing rant.

My thinking is this: if someone is fortunate enough to get a good deal from a board member and then turn around and list it on eBay, shame on them. While the part is their's to do as they please once they have it in hand, something like that kind of negates the whole purpose of this board.

A good way to deal with it would be to just NOT sell to that person anymore and use the feedback forum as a place to let people know you've been "done wrong". There's no need to conduct a public hanging, just a simple heads-up would suffice.

Personally, I wouldn't even think of doing something like that, especially not to the people on here who've helped me out since this board's inception. However, there are people that do and will continue to, plain and simple.

That being said, "seller beware", move on and be a little more careful when making a transaction....:Smarty:

    just my .02 cents....

i think the issue is more about the 'buick family'. we only want to play with other buick people. in other words, if you want to make money on other peoples ideals, go do it on chevys, fords or whatever. the 'buick family' does not condone this type of attitude.
kinda like going to church on sunday and being a jerk of a boss on monday.

just my thoughts about this thread.

i have no problem with someone buying a part from me and then listing it on ebay. what i find important is that noone is misled. of course, with that said, i dont ask people what they plan to do with the part. if i sell it for what its worth, they wont be able to turn a profit on it anyway. if i dont ask what its worth, thats my mistake, and i will get over it soon enough.

i sold a part to a member recently for about 1/3 to 1/4 of what it would bring on ebay because he has helped me with my car, but i dont expect him to carry it to his grave with him just because i gave him a good price. its his now, just as the money is mine, we agreed to a trade, my part for his cash. i think he wanted it for his car, but i didnt ask why he wanted it, and i dont care. now if i find out that he listed on ebay, then thats not going to make me feel as good as if he wanted it for his car, but i wont be posting neg fb about it. i would just ask full market value for any parts i sell him in the future, or stop selling him parts if it bothers me too much.

i bought some parts at the nats because i thought i could make money on them. ( yes, i do that because i am a parts vendor. i buy things for less than what i ask for them ) i found out that a member could use them for his car, so i offered them to him for my exact cost, i had wanted to turn a profit, and in the end i did because he insisted that i take more than i paid for them. he sent me more than i asked, i brought it to his attention, he still insisted that i keep the extra. one of the best guys on this board. for me its like this, those who have helped me with my car will get help from me, but those who have charged me top dollar, i may just refuse to sell to them. there is one or two people here that i refuse to sell to or buy from.

there is nothing wrong with buying to resell, but of course there is everything wrong with misleading people.

I think this is a good idea. I believe that if this was done then members could recognize when a fellow member has bid and back off. When parts are sold here everyone seems to play fair and lets the seller know they want to be "next in line" which seems to work. First come, first serve.
There are going to be times when an item is purchased from the "Parts for sale" threads and sold for a profit somewhere else. That's business and it's the buyers' right.
However, it does bother me to know that if something is obtained via the "Pay it forward" kindness of a fellow member whose intention is to help someone else out, then that's unacceptable.

There are a couple guys I go to swap meets with that whine and snivel about the prices, everytime, whine about what's happening to "thier" hobby. I didn't realize it was so widespread.
I watch this board because there is a chance something I want or need will come up. The same with E Bay. It is a lot easier than searching the junk yards all weekend. I expect the person to make something off anything I buy, so what.
I have sold parts to known resto shops on both coasts, we know they will make money on those parts, should I worry? What's the difference between them and the other people I hear the sniveling about, the people that make money on E Bay?
I will have to tell these snivlers I hang with they are not alone, I am the minority, again.

Some of you guys are just dreaming if you think that someone or even everyone will not buy here to sell later. I buy parts for cars I have (anyone of 12 I have now) But lets say I buy a part and Im not happy with it.... Great PRICE or not I will decide to sell it or keep it. Whether I got a deal here or on ebay. That is my decision and mine alone. Just as it is for you all, you have the right to buy it low and sell it high if it happens.

I have seen people get a deal from me and take a part right to their swap spot at the GS Nats and put a higher price on it to sell.
SO WHAT!!! I got what I was wanting for it, more power to you.

I have bought parts to examine for the reproduction purpose and decided later I wasnt going to do them so I sell them. Once again ...MY right! I paid for them I own them.

I dont need to see a black list of sellers I want to see a blacklist of NON paying low life sleezbag bidders. Or a list of the scumbag greedy jerks that take your money and never send parts to you.

THATS WHAT I WANT TO SEE !!!!

    btw I am buickbits

    one more scenario

    well said racebuicks !!

one other possible scenario to consider.

lets say member A sells a part to member B, when B gets it he decides that it isnt good enough for his car, or he finds a better one, but in an effort to keep things smooth here on the board with A, rather than ask A for a refund, he decides to suck it and not be a whiner. so then B writes it off as the way life goes sometimes, and lists it on ebay. the bidders then decide how much it will sell for. should A then put B on a blacklist or post neg fb when all B did was try to save A some aggravaton ? i think not.

its best to not assume too much about internet communcations. or should i say the lack of communication ?

when i can tell a seller what to do with the money, he can tell me what to do with the part. until then, let freedom reign.

    no blacklist !

    just my two cents. henry

I understand both sides but I think that if I were to sell a buick part to someone one here knowing that they would put it to good use and on THERE buick I would cut him/her a brake on the price
anyone could sell it on e-bay and get the most amount of money for it but some people like to help others

Maybe the board should think about putting up a little section for v8buick auctions. The board could charge like .25 cents for each item listed no other fees and make money for the board. I think that would be a good idea. Then board members would decied what the part is worth.
    Just a thought

    Just think,
If not for Ebay,we wouldn't have gotten over 2 grand for a NOS 71 grille.Greedy???? Perhaps so,but we didn't bid it up to that.We have 5-6 GS and Skylarks here that we are selling the parts off of and we are keeping the nicest parts for our cars.I try to get a fair price for the parts and NEVER over charged anyone.Like Mike said, its our stuff, and we own it.I think that everyone has made a profit on something here and thats not bad.I think that if you would try to re-sell things you got from the pay it forward, that would be unethical though.I even sent alot of items to fellow members here for just the cost of shipping it.I don't ask for anything to cover the boxes and tape as well as the trip to the Post Office. This is my hobby and I enjoy helping others out.I don't think we should do anything here but to ask peoples Ebay ID.Mine is 73buickgs but I have no purchases since someone messed with my previous acct which was bignastytoyota.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

just my .02 cents worth I sell buick stuff and many other things on ebay (call name is TAZ205 ) I bought a few things from this board and I am now going to sell some of the things I have in order to buy a car I though I would never be able to buy some of my parts are from members so I PMed one member to let him know that I was now selling a 1972 ram air breather I bought from him as I was realy wanting it from him in case I was to put my 72 skylark together as a 1972 GS well I did not do that as I had enough parts to make it a 1970 GS convertible clone and wanted a 1970 Breather for it so I bought one now I hope that I make a few bucks on the 1972 breather in order to offset the cost of the 1970 as it cost me more (hope you can follow this as I am getting confussed myself ) I told him I did not want hard feelings and hoped it was OK with him he stated that that was no problem but on another matter myself and a lot of others have multiple parts and sell them from time to time MAKE SURE THE PARTS YOU SEE ON EBAY ARE THE ONES YOU SOLD THE MEMBER !!! think for a min. I need a tri shield mirror I get one from a member that is nicer than mine and put mine on ebay to sell to offset the cost of the one I bought from a board member dont jump the gun and say hay that SOB is tring to make a buck on my kindness you may find it is not your part or maybe it is and the member is in bad shape and needs money GOD KNOW A LOT OF US HAVE CHILDREN AND MONEY SEEMS TO GO OUT QUICK my point of all of this is to handle your individual case yourself as some others have said but ask the member why? dont just assume he of she is just out to put the screws to you as some of you are upset over all this remember one thing we are all lucky to have our cars and enjoy them please remember life is short and not to take things to seriously as these are just parts of cars not our lives god bless you all.

Everything I've gotten from fellow board members and BPG members has been sold to me after I asked for it; the part wasn't really for sale, but the person saw I needed it, realized he had one, and we made a deal, at a very low price. They just sold it to me to help me.

I resent the ebayers violating that trust.
