I was reading in another topic about this subject and I thought that it would be a good idea to create a special place here on this site where we can post the names of people who buy our parts for sale and then turn around and sell them on ebay for a profit..........a sort of 'black list'. It is appalling to me that people can be so unscrupulous.

You can vote in the poll that I have posted.

Not a bad idea.I wouldn't want to think i'm helping a fellow Buick enthusiast out by either ,locating a great deal,or selling/giving them something to help them out, then see it on e-bay the next day or so. That would really chap my :moonu:

Yup. If they can use the board to cheat, we can use the board to stop `em.

Make sure there is a decnt "appeal" process though. The Mods here are fair enough to handle this kind of thing IMHO.

I am not saying that is right for people to buy (gobble) up parts off people on this board and sell on eBay.

Who would be in charge of deciding ??

eBay is a great place for people to find parts. Things show up on eBay that you thought you could never find.

There is another problem on this board. What about the people that buy stuff off eBay for cheap and turn around and want top dollar for it on this site.

I have seen people list stuff from this board on eBay for less money and than list it on this board at the same time for a lot more money. Than they sell it through the board, then cancel the auction on eBay.

We should be glad that people are willing to sell BUICK PARTS :beer .

I don't feel that a blacklist is something that should happen. If the person wants too much for the stuff they are selling than people should not be dumb enough to buy it. Let the greedy seller keep the part and maybe after sometime they will lower the price.

There is a feedback section on this board right.

I don't understand, if you got the price you want for your part, what do you care if they sell the part for a profit? Maybe it won't sell and they lose a little, will you reimburse them for their loss?
Will this person have to write you a note if they don't use that part and then sell it, if it isn't exactley what they wanted, or if they found something better, they have to ask if it is ok to resell. What a crock. I list stuff here and it dosen't sell then list it on E Bay where it sells. So what!
No free enterprise on this board?????

It's the principle of the thing..........I've sold a few parts here myself that I know I could have gotten more money for, but would rather see them go to a Buick guy who could use them than someone who is only out for the money. Some of us offer the parts for free to fellow members............do you think that would be fair............ to accept a free part and then put it on ebay?:spank:

I think some people cannot distinguish kindness from financial stupidity.

I bought a very rare/valuable piece from a board member last year. He sold it at below market price, then donated the $$ to the BPG.

The essence of his generosity is factored into the majority of "Parts for Sale" on the board. If you don't believe me, read the posts from the people selling at or above market. They get beat up pretty good most of the time.

If people exploit an opportunity, that is often deemed "free enterprise". I don't think people like being exploited in a "friendly environment".

My .02. I imagine some will disagree.

If you gave something or sold something at what you consider a good deal, that is totally up to you. If you have a problem with it, don't do it. It is up to you. What anyone does with it is their problem. Or business.
If I sat around and worried about what someone got for the forty plus cars I have owned and sold or how much the next person made off a house I sold, there would not be time for anything else.
I sold a rally gage here for a fair price, I see them on E Bay for 40 to 50 more than I sold mine for. So What! I don't care if it is my old one, I got what I asked, If I wanted more or didn't feel well about it, that's my fault.
I have sold a few things here, all at what I considered low prices, I just don't care what you do with it after you pay for it.
    Move on.

Of course, there are a lot of guys that buy parts on ebay and relist them. This happened to me recently on a timing cover. The guy outbid me and relisted it the day after he won the auction.

My expectations relative to E-bay are vastly different.

    Maybe they shouldn't be.:Do No:

If you are out bid on E Bay then you just didn't want the part either for what it was worth or what it was worth to someone else. Usually because you wanted it for the "good deal". It just wasn't worth that much to you to bid for it.

    I voted no.

But I would like to see a listing of peoples' ebay handles, simply for curiosity's sake. It's easier than asking all the time.

    Ageed!

That whole process is just plain STUPID!

Lets not get all worked up over something so trivial...
After all...the buyer and seller agreed to the terms...didnt they?

Yes some folks are a little unscrupulous...You didnt know that?

I have said it here before...This thing we do...."Play with cars".

    It isnt about the money!
It's about our love for the Buick automobile.

If you don't enjoy it...find something you do enjoy.

Man we sure do a bunch of wining around here.

I don't like it but resale is going to happen. A reasonable profit for reselling is OK since the reseller has to lay out the money to buy and hold an item before reselling. They do however increase the cost of parts for all of us. I don't complain when I trade a vehicle and the dealer sells it for much more $$ than they gave me in trade.

I sold a part at the GS Nationals one year for $50 only to see it later that day for sale for over $600. I was pissed but I sold it for what I thought it was worth. I had the part in storage for 20+ years and was glad to get rid of it. If I had known the true market value maybe I would have asked more. When I try and sell something it is because I want to get rid of it or I need money. If I sell it for an agreed on price it does me no good to complain about a resale.

I think the list that needs to be added to this site is an "Official Buick parts price guide" with the true market value. It would help those of us just tiring to sell extra parts as well as those of us buying parts without driving up the price of our hobby.

I would like to know the UID for eBay people from this board but I don't think it would stop me from selling to them.

That statement is worth 1,000 words.............the very reason that the parts for sale here on this board are usually sold on the cheap. Profiting from a fellow board member's well intioned generousity is just plain wrong and un-ethical.:error:

Why don't you guys just put a "right to buy back first" disclaimer on everything you sell. Then it's just like renting and you won't feel so bad.
