    Hi Skymangs

I haven't heard from you in a while, what up? I was reviewing your picture of the pulleys you picked several months ago. What was the grooved W/P pulley off of showed in the thread?

I'm still trying to make this serpentine system simpler.

Have you done any work on your system yet?

Sorry Weekender, I've been running all over the country this last few months. (training our Armys finest in preperation for thier deployments to Iraq. I havn't gotten a chance to even turn a bolt. The w/p pulley was off of an 84 Ford POS (I mean LTD), 302. They are the only engine (except 87 GN that I know of that doesn't have a reversed w/p pulley.

    No air, No problem

    HR84 Buick

I was spending some time at the recyclers last Saturday and I came across two things of interest.

One, the no A\C problem is solved by a factory part that attached inside the regular A\C pump housing I found one and plan on making one system for non-air cars.

Two, The frontend components from a 350 CI Chevy suburban, I think the years are 92-94 is the same system as is found on the 4.3, 6 cylinder.

    GN setup on my car

In my 87 GN I have a big block with the V-6 serpentine setup. It works great but the the bracket on the left head ,which holds the alternator does not allow room for an HEI distributor to go in. I am installing the 494 in a couple of weeks and will have to do a little grinding on the bracket to get my pro billet distributor in. I will post pictures when completed. My car doesnt have A/C though. Shawn

    How many are available?

How many guys want to part with there turbo motor setup like yours. I don't belive the standard V-6 3.8 has the same setup does it? I believe your setup is the best as far as a quick adaptation, but there aren't very many around.

My son has a 87 GN and I tried to get his from him and he wouldn't let me have it even after I spank him! HA! HA!

Just the parts that I make, which there are 6 adapters and including the W\p and main drive pulleys would be $270.00. This would include instructions and pix to show how to make it work. You would then need to get the Chevy parts from the bone yards as outline previously in this thread.

I can send a whole setup with all the bolts, nut and main adapters and bracket including the parts from the Chevy all welded and ready to go for around $400.00. This includes the A\c and P\s pumps and an alternator. No guarantees on these parts they are used and may need work, technically, I throw them in for free.

I also have a no air setup, the price is the same because I throw the A\c pump in for free.

    Weekender,

I've got access to compressors, alternators, and the p/s pump(just tell me what one you used, make/model/year vehicle). I was thinking of maybe powdercoating the brackets and pulleys after I got them and maybe updating to a chrome alternator. That's what I was interested in mainly - (bolts, nut and main adapters and bracket including the parts from the Chevy all welded and ready to go). It may be a few months before I'm ready to do it. I've got to shift some finances around the next couple of months, I'll let you know when I'm ready for purchase though. Is it mandatory to relocate the oil filter also? That was one of my other questions. Excellent job by the way. It takes a lot to develop different things like that.

Sorry I'm late to the discussion

    GS72

You are on the right track. I powder coated all pulleys and brackets and they look great. The pix I showed you last post did not have this done yet because these were the experimental parts.

I use a drive pulley from a Olds or Cad Northstar motor. For the water pump I use a crank pulley from a 86 to 89 Ford 302 v8 Ford (Reversed when installed). The pumps are free with the brackets. If you want to go to the expense, or you get them free, these parts are from a 92 to 94 4.3 chevy v6 motor. Blazer, van or large pickup.

You must buy a remote oil filter adapter kit if you are installing a 455 in a 78- 87 Regal chassis. I use the Summit adapter kit because it has two inlets and two outlets. This makes it much more flexible in these tight confines of these cars.

I'm thinking since I want to put this setup on the 455 in my '70 Sport Wagon, I won't need to relocate the oil filter. One other thought I had is how much torque this puts on the water pump pulley. It looks like it pretty much rides on the side. I know from past experience, Buick water pumps are notorious for bearing failure. Didn't know if the serpentine system put anymore torque on the pilot shaft than a stock setup.

    W/P Bearings stress

    GS72

I have not had much problem with w/p bearing in my vehicles. After having engineered this system and considering the limited amount of surface on the w/p pulley, this should not be a problem.

I feel that a highly tensioned V-belt will put more pressure on this bearing than this application will due to the fact the belt does not encompass more than 20% of the pulley and it is NOT direct pressure. As an FYI, I run a 6 blade flex fan and have experience 0 (zero) slippage.

I will be installing this system in a GS later in the week and will have sailbrd (a fellow member) post his thouight on this system once

We just finished putting this in my GS on Friday. Took a bunch of pics and will start posting as soon as possible. I have twenty miles on it and still have a few little details to check out. If the weather is good on Sunday will get those fixed.
