Serious Question about Global Warming

I haven't really read this thread, because I don't know much about this subject. But for what its worth. Heres my opinion.

All the experts, "know what they're talking about". But I would guess them to be, split down the middle.

So someone is wrong. BUT we ALL know pollution is bad. So we should try to reduce pollution and carbon emmisions, and stop arguing about whether its real or not. Lets just try to fix the problem, and get over it.

Too bad things aren't that simple though.

 

yes, but what IS polution? If CO2 is pollution, then you can start helping by not breathing.

For example, I read one example where walking to the store (creating extra CO2 from exercise), and then replenishing your burnt calories with a meat(meat production creates more CO2) meal would create more CO2 "pollutant" than if that person were to drive their car to the store!

This isn't about saving the planet, it's about power and wealth.

 

If you try to fix a problem that doesn't exist you create real problems. That buick of yours causes lots of carbon emmissions. Maybe they will take it away from you and make you ride a bike instead, just to be doing something to help a problem that doesnt exist.

 

All this stuff is way to confusing.... I think I need to go do a long smokey burnout to clear my head. :3gears: :bla:

 

Just to lighten the mood a bit...

Did you know that a fully grown pine tree can emit more hydrocarbons per day than a properly tuned P-ZEV vehicle (Partial Zero-Emission Vehicle)?

They've been on the road since the end of the last century.

Or that these supposed "carbon offsets" created by planting trees are actually only "carbon delays" as once the tree dies it decays and all of that supposedly fixed CO2 is once again released.

BTW Al Gore is in the carbon offset business; he is partial owner of a company that brokers them. Add that to the ad-nauseum layers of his hipocracy.

It has been a old fashioned winter in MN, I bored through 3 feet of ice to fish this weekend. Sure seems like things are cold up here, dam cold:TU: not sure if it means anything but it is cold.

I have a question, if it is true the temp is rising on other planets (like Mars) could this not be some sort of Sun cycle related activity. It is well documented that temps warmed in the middle ages, and maybe this is coming full circle again.

I think we should do what we need to free oursleves from fossil fuel dependency and we can reap many rewards in the process. Greater US Security, reduction in polution of all kinds and freedom from regulation based on speculation. I do what I can at my house, to reduce costs and reduce my carbon footprint. I do this not to appease some environement wacko, it just makes sense and saves money. I think many of us are logical thinkers here, so we can follow common sense and save or conserve where it makes sense.

I just noted that a similar old thread was deleted moments before, after I posted a reply. I'm unsure why and it seemed arbitrary. But it's your forum and your certainly within your rights to act in an arbitrary manner. I wish government policy didn't affect our hobby, but it does. Therefore virtually any political topic is relevent. Hope I'm not acting like a 6 year old by inquiring.
