I have been busy, haven't looked at this thread until now.

Perhaps I overreacted since this happened the same day someone tried scamming me out of a password which would have allowed them to take control of my Apple account and credit card. The timing seemed weird combined the fact that he just registered. I would never buy a car sight unseen for that amount of money. So i decided not to sell. Too many red flags.

I am going to list it on the Hemmings auction site. He (or any one else) can buy it there.

Last year I was in the market for a last gen Riviera. Really wanted a 99. Found a car I was interested in in northern michigan. Went back and forth with the seller and there was some flags. First off he wanted 1/2 down then he said to fly into Bay City and take a bus to Houghton lake then make the deal and drive the car home. Ummm no, not doing that. Despite not feeling all warm and fuzzy about the seller or the asking price decided to fly up and see it in person. I took a back up along and paid for her ticket along with her checked firearm. Glad I did. car had 40K more miles on the clock that seller stated, it was trashed dirty and on the test drive overheated. Also ,just in case, booked a round trip ticket. So all the bases were covered. Glad I did. Was worth the piece of mind. So ya... no matter what, unless you personally know the seller or know someone local to do the legwork dont buy sight unseen .

    I agree 110%.

All you have to do is review the comments of people who buy cars from Gateway, the largest classic car dealer in the U.S. and probably the world.

What made the deal w/the '69 GS 400 @jherb & I went to look @ & John subsequently bought last week nice was that even though it was consigned at a dealer, it was @Steve Reynolds car so while I'd never met him personally, he does have an excellent reputation. Still well worth going there vs. buying sught unseen (plus the priceless adventure) and Steve was there as well but at least we were dealing with a known entity. Even my own Stage 1 that I bought from @nickbuickgs (Nick Serwo) was so much more comfortable being the seller was well-known.

After some of these accusations, the least that could be done is alert the person who will be guaranteed to win the car to the auction, right?

    What's the secret?
I went to Hemmings and couldn't find a 1961 LeSaber
    Listed.
Hum, wonder if I did something wrong?

He posted he would list it on Hemmings on Nov 23 and it's now Dec 6.
Just wondering when his Buick gets listed.
I see Hemmings has sold 1961 Buick LeSaber's between 20K & 40K. Good numbers. VET

Ya, I get it. Maybe he changed his mind. Or maybe he got a private offer he couldn't turn down?
Just wondering why he is waiting to list it? Do Buicks increase in price in the winder months lol. VET

Is this car available at auction yet? I'm super disappointed we couldn't make the deal extremely easy and as agreed, but I really do want the car.

I wouldn't bet the seller is going to sell it on Hemmings. It's getting close to a month now.
Have to wonder what he's waiting for???

    You are 100% correct.

I guess i'am just waiting for his car to come up for sale but I had assumed it would be sooner rather than say the Spring time.

Like you said, Spring makes a lot of sense to sell his Buick then. It's not going to get any cheaper. Thank you for the reminder. VET
