Sad to see MCR, 4 wheel and Off Road, and Car Craft go. I thought that MCR had got a couple years ago. I just can't find it anywhere in town. I was really pissed when they axed PHR. I was about to cancel my HR subscription and subscribe to PHR. At least they gave warning. I was a subscriber to American Bagger motorcycle magazine. It just stopped showing up no notice of anything. I finally posted in a forum to find out they where gone. Tim
Muscle Car Review....I'm sure gonna miss it! I probably have every issue way back to when it started out as Classic Sixties magazine. This magazine influenced my life so much over the years to help me learn to do stuff for myself back because I couldn’t afford to have others do work on my cars and from learning all about everything from proper detailing, carpet and headliner installation, seat upholstery, polishing stainless trim, installing glass and countless other skills that now I earn my living from and work with my two sons to whom I passed these skills onto as well working busily in our shop everyday. Many folks who have had their vehicles featured in the magazine in articles or coverage of events like the Pure Stock Drags have become close friends of mine sharing the passion that brings us together thru restorations of muscle cars. The writers like the late Tom Shaw, Paul Zazzerine and others contributed so much to the joy of owning and restoring these machines that it truly is a sad day for me to hear this news of the loss of a favorite magazine that brought so much positivity in my life.
I just renewed Car Craft after letting it go for a couple years, I'm on my 2nd mag since renewal! Bob H.
I can’t help but think that this was a hasty and maybe not too well thought out decision. It sure doesn’t appear to have been a while in the making, judging by subscription cards, renewal notices, etc. My favorite, MCR, has risen from the ashes before. Maybe it will again. Like a Jeff, I have been reading it since it was Classic Sixties. It’s been part of my life for a loooooong time. I’m sure gonna miss it.
Honestly, it's been in the making for 6+ years when SourceInterlink, the previous incarnation of TEN, closed its distribution company and consolidated offices, plus axed a number of titles.
I am glad I saved my old ones, all the good articles are in those. I guess they LS'd us to death now no one buys them. I would rather have a mag in my hands too can read anytime and take it with me to show friends.
I got away from the magazines a while ago for quite some time as EVERYTHING was still Chevy. Was at Stop and Shop probably a bit over 1o years ago and saw MCR for the first time and it was just a perfect well rounded "where have you kinda been type magazine". Ended up getting a subscription and have collected quite a bunch.. Remember though it did change its format with a different front cover layout and thicker paged glossy pic's, but alot less cars, articles, total pages and less barn finds. I figured something was up?? or there was just wasn't enough old cars left to write about and feature?? Yes, I also stopped seeing the stores stocking it these last years.. Now for how suppositley good of a publication Hemming Muscle Machine magazine is, they make a huge amount of technical mistakes. It's like they have no proof readers. Take a look at the written specs in there Dec 2014 issue with the 1970 GS 455 and Stage1 Buyers Guide showing the Black 4 speed car.. 3.90 bore and 4.312 stroke, 10.5 comp ratio and boxed frame on all 455 GS's. Not really exceptable for a high end magazine I think.
I just reupped subscriptions on hot rod and car craft. Along w gift subscriptions. Muscle car review couple months ago. Overall about $100. This year. I like the mags and give many away at work when I’m done w them. A sad thing to follow not mentioned here is the small companies who still advertised in the mags who don’t do social media or online ads. They will disappear. And then those of us who support the paper mags and those who say it’s time they are gone will miss these smaller vendors. Many were to busy working providing great products to be on the net. It will start being noticed very soon.
