When does Year One print their next catalog? It might be a good idea to get them in there for the next whole year, list them at regular price. That will give them a whole bunch of exposure, most people who don't have the internet still have a Year One catalog...:Smarty:

    Get them NOW ! ! ! !

1st. Thanks Alan for sticking your neck out for us on the Buicks. You and a handful of other guys including Duane Heckman, Mike Garrison, and others are getting it done. Thanks to all of you.

Now for anyone else who reads this post. If you own a car that can use these lights and need them now or maybe in the future try to step up to the plate now. The only way this gets done is by letting the sellers know you are serious buyers. I have one car, a set of NOS tail lights and I stepped up and bought one set just to support the cause.

I understand that it is expensive and you need to come up with the cash but think of it has $5.00 a week for one year. That's does not sound like as much to me.

If you need them or think that you will ever need them now is the best time to act. They will never be cheaper. Also, do not think that just becuase it will be available now that it will always be there. I know of several parts that were reproduced at one time and now they are not reproduced because the place reproducing them could not make a profit from them. Example being the 197-72 rock panel moldings. I do not know if they came back but for awhile the repros disappeared. This applies to all repo parts. If you think you may need them try to acquire them.

    Just think about it please.

    Re: side markers/ Alan

Alan, I've probably missed a message, but how close are the side markers from being ready to go?
I'm set OK on NOS taillights, but will be needing side markers for 2 cars.
Have you thought about if these will be available individually, or only in full sets?
Either way, you can count me in on some when they are available.

    Thanks, Jeff

    Re: Re: side markers/ Alan

Side Marker lenses should be ready in time for the Nationals in May. I don't know pricing just yet as the process is complicated by the fact that you have to make the lens, the housing, chrome the edge of the housing, and then bond the 2 pieces together. I expect that these will be about the cost of a set of reproduction tail light lenses ($200 to $250), but I'm just guessing right now. I will be taking an initial intro order on sets at a reduced price but will sell sets or individuals thereafter at regular prices.

One more thing. Even if someone reading this doesn't need the lenses, spread the word. There's plenty of people who need them and the more people you tell, the more the word gets out.

    Thanks,

    Alan

C'mon gang! I think Alan only has committments for about 15 sets so far.....there has GOT to be more of us who need now, or will need within the next year, a set of new lenses. Get 'em on order now and save yourself a few bucks. But more importantly, help to ensure that we can look forward to more projects like this in the future. Thanks!:beer

  15. Re: What's the catch?

Hmmm, I wonder... I have their 2002 spring catalog, and all it says for pricing is "$CALL" for every year's lens. It doesn't say if they have any in stock, if they are new, used, reproductions, etc...

    Re: Re: What's the catch?

They have new ones for the CALL price (I think he's getting $350 a set). They do have sort of reproductions for $89 per lens ($169.95 a set). These lenses are NOT GM LICENSED and as such, DO NOT HAVE ALL THE MARKINGS AND PART NUMBERS. One of the people who ordered my lenses said he had ordered a set from the parts place for a GSX. Well, when he noticed they didn't have the right markings, they got sent back right away because they were not correct. Mine are correct, with all markings, and GM Licensed. This individual and someone at Year One I spoke to have seen the Parts Place repros. The 2 comments were (1) not that nice and (2) DEFINITELY not correct. If TPP did have the markings, then they would be receiving a call from GM about unlicensed parts. Its my understanding from some posts on the TB.com board that GM is cracking down again on sellers of unlicensed parts and products.

If you don't care about the markings and just want cheap replacements, buy from the parts place. If you want them RIGHT, that would be me. AGAIN, if the GM Lenses don't sell though, due to people buying the unlicensed black market ones from TPP, then other products in the works (such as grilles, coolant bottles, side marker lenses, etc.) will be in danger of not being completed. There's not enough Buicks out there to warrant several parts producers. Its just that simple. Mold and production costs are way too high. GM is aware of TPP reproductions. I'm waiting to see what action they take.

As for me, if the part isn't right, then I don't want it.
