WELL it is rare............and ugly. I wonder how much damage he did to the motor by jumping it and starting it. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pace...0?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item19c6427c84#v4-40
They were JUNK when they were new and they still are Junk today !!!! 12 miles ... ou: :moonu: And still Junk !!!! Did I mention that they were Junk ?
The sick thing is I would drive it everywhere, I would rather have a Vega or Pinto, '71 vintage with 12 miles tho!
Probably thought it would be worth something someday. Maybe in another 30 years it'll be worth $2k. Right now the market is a bit low on cars that are on the all time worst list. At least it's not a Gremlin.
That really is pretty ugly, and what the hell would you do with it ? You couldn't drive it, otherwise you would lose your investment (if that is what it is) and if you did drive it, you would have to replace every seal on the car before you could as they would all be leaking before you could do 100 miles. Too many people with too much money.
Those cars have a following. Five grand for a driver is not unheard of. The problem, however, is that AMC people are cheap.
That's it!! I remember that dashboard from my first car, lasted maybe 10 minutes from the sellers house. Seems Dad forgot to check the water! Bought my first car and my first tow chain in the same night!
Seems the original purchaser loved that car as much as me. It would stay hidden away in the barn if I had it also. Now if it were a vega......... I'd drive the tires off of that thing!!!!
That door sticker probably refers to how much the car can safely weigh with a full tank of fuel, 5 fat ladies, and a large picnic basket. I've got to share my AMC "junk" story. I'm at a musclecar show in Atlanta with my '70 S1. A beautiful black Javelin AMX with some rediculously low mileage on it pulls in next to me. It's two occupants decide they'll roll down the windows to show the car. The passenger side falls off the track and down into the door. They spent the rest of the day getting it back on. It was quite entertaining.
Pabstman, I modified your post a bit. I think it's a more fitting description of the seller! If only I could find a stripped out K-car Reliant in a dark green with matching green interior, except for a black rubber mat floor....
