How is the off idle performance just around town? Love what you are doing here, great story on making a sbb quick on the cheap.

Justin, off idle is great there's no problem driving this car on the street, none..

It has a 850 Holley dp on it, I rejetted it and increased the squirters for good drivEability around town and the track..

Now earlier when I talked About reworking the HEI this what helps your idle quality also, I know that's hard to believe but with a cam this big it helps tame the off idle response...

Are you running a vacuum advance? I have a MSD 6A with Distributor without vacuum advance. Just wondering how it will be for street.

Andy, I have the same dist. Run the largest bushing with the lightest springs. Gives you 18* from initial to full advance. All in by abt. 1,800. You'll like it! :Brow:

It worked for me! Was that your car? It seem to pick up fast like my 455 with the 5000 stall!

Ok now I seen the other videos. You need more stall, bigger cam, and a 4.10 gear but it won't be as streetable. I can't see the times at the end. What was the fastest? I just dropped off the crank at Component machine today on my 350 and might buy those flat top pistons to put in it. I need a Buick 350 rich guy to help me pay for it.

Ron, not sure who your talking too,.. but thats my sons car in the video's that we put together this fall and still tweaking it for high school nationals.,,

It has a 10" TCI 3500 stall, but its tight...

----------------LOL... Ron, read the very first post of this thread to get the just of this whole stock build... did not do anything to the short block, cast pistons... Best ET is in the first post,..

My car is the one in the avatar, 72' skylark upper left.., 11:50's, 455 motor..

Ok I read through the post. I don't know if I would do what I said until he becomes a true weekend drag racer. It took me a little while to settle down and race at the track only but the guys always said your Electra was junk to me and when I kicked their ass after school they shut up! Good work and if I ever get this all out 350 built we will see what it can do!

You are running some good times. It has proven to me that the suspension set up I have to make the car handle is slowing me down in the 1/4 mile. I have stock bottom end but it was all balanced, 73 rods etc.

The dyno sheets are from when I had the TA 510 cam in.

Andy, those dyno sheets are Fox's Den ( Guy ) on his new completely rebuilt motor with a T/A 510 cam making good HP.... My dyno is seat of the pants, weight of car and ET's so far state, 312 hp at the rear wheels maybe 375 hp at the crank...

Thanks Guy,..The suspension on my sons car is completely stock right now, we need to loosen the front end up,.. The 70' stock rod bolts is whats so nerving at 6000 rpm, but a few guy's on the board have done it many times...

-- Hoping to keep the motor together all year,.. its a street car first and race car second, but a classic car for my son to cut his teeth on,..LOL.

    thanks jerrold,..

My dyno sheet with the 510 cam is from 1994, changed the cam to a Lunati 230-245 502-507 lift 116 lsa. My loose 3500 stall was giving me 1.71 60 fts. Now have the 4 speed auto with a 3000 stall. This slowed my 60 fts down to 1.80. I have 73 Camaro spindles and heavy springs and 1 1/2 sway bars on front and back with poly bushings. Based on what you have I know I am being slowed down by the suspension. If we get the heads I would like to go back to something like the 510 cam it was very nasty. plus 4000 stall and a 410 gear or so.

With the Lunati cam I am getting 190 on a comp test and I have 10.6 compression.
