I realise that a pic of the interior is not the same as seeing it in person. I would probably like it alot seeing the real thing. We would love to go to some of the major Buick events but my health and money problems make it almost impossible to do. Maybe next year we will just have to plan for it way ahead of time any maybe hit one of the closest ones to us. We have a small motor home and a trailer for my car so we are OK that way. I wouldn't be able to go to one of the big events and not bring the car to pound on a few runs. Tom

I would love to make a Buick event but health and money shortage make it real hard this year. Maybe next year if we plan far enough ahead we could make one that is not to far away from us, but being in Wi they all are a good trip for us. I would have to bring the car and pound on it a 1/4 mile at a time or I would go nuts watching every one else run. I would like to meet some of the people on here that have been so much help to me and everyone else on V8buick. Tom

I "allowed" this auction to end with another High Bidder, just because I didn't want to get scammed on this part, if it wasn't a true auction! I know a picture of Brad's car when I see it, and I knew that Brad wouldn't be selling his Door Panel Emblems! I also knew that he's not in Long Island, either! :Smarty:

I've been tracking this auction from the beginning, as I was really planning on winning it, but I backed out before I had to commit to an auction that I was unsure about, so I just sat back and watched it, instead! :Smarty:

I notice the buyer sent the money, and got a good feedback from the seller.

However, the seller has not sent the item, for the buyer to send a feedback, yet! :puzzled:

I wonder if the guy DID get scammed! :Do No:

I sent a message to the buyer, asking if he would be kind enough to send pictures of the emblems, when he receives them, just to know what he actually gets, if he gets anything at all!

I haven't heard anything from him, either way! :puzzled: :Do No:

I received an Email from the Buyer of these GSX Door Panel Emblems, and he claims that they were as described, just as in the photo of the Prototype GSX, when he did receive them!

    Apparently, they're even NOS condition!

I'm just waiting on pictures of the actual emblems that he received.:bglasses:

I only regret not bidding on them, when I had the chance, as I would now own them!:moonu::spank: The only reason I doubted, was because of the discrepancy of the Prototype photo being posted without Brad's permission.:af::ball::Dou:

He won them for $128. They're worth that, at least. :Smarty:

    Sorry Guys,
They do not look like the prototype emblems off Brad's car. I personally took Brad's emblems off his door panels when I did his interior. These are definately different.

It would be nice to see a picture of the back side of the emblems.

They may not have anything to do with the Prototype GSX, at all, but they sure do look like very good quality Reproductions, or very rare Originals, one or the other! :Smarty:

WHERE DID they come from, then? :Do No:

They look like the production style originals with the edge taken off. They are probably repro pieces.

What about the recent supercharged late-model GSX Buick was offering a few years back? Dan

I was thinking that too Dan...

But I also have to admit I know nothing about those cars... :Brow: :Do No:

    Duane,
Since you know, what door panel emblems did GSX's have, anyway? Weren't they just GS emblems? And the GSX Dashpad Emblem identified the GSX? :Do No:

    Scott,
Your info is correct for the 70 cars.

The 72 cars would have no GS on the doorpanels, as the 72 coupe custom
    interiors did not have them.

As far as the GSX dash emblem, some 71-72 non GSX's also came with the dash emblem. It seems that Fisher Body was not sure if a rear spoiler equipped car was a GSX or not, so the emblem was included. I know of 2 documented examples of this.

So don't assume a 71-72 car with the dash emblem is a GSX.

    You are correct.
I own a 72 GS 455 hardtop that is factory equipped with a GSX rear spoiler.
This car also has the factory not reproduction GSX dash emblem.
I bought this car 10 years ago and have GM of Canada documentation showing the WA6 rear spoiler as one of it's options.Car does not have the WA5 GSX ornamentation package .
Your assumption is correct, because the WA5 GSX ornamentation package included a rear spolier and with so few built ( 44 built) plus only another 28 non GSX cars with factory wing the guys on the line just put GSX dash pad emblems on all 72 cars equipped with factory wings

    Duane,
As always, Thanks for enlightening me with your knowledge! :beer

GSX's are such rare beasts, anyway, but I often overlook the '71 and '72 cars as "leftovers" from 1970, so I usually don't even acknowledge those cars, anyway. :Smarty:

As far as the GSX Door Panel Emblems, I am in direct contact with the guy who bought them from Ebay, and he has been asking me about them, which I don't know as well as you do.

He asked me if the Prototype Door Panel emblems are also "2 pieces" (with the G separated from the SX), as it looks to be in the photos. He says there is no part number stamped on it, indicating it is most likely a reproduction.

He also asked me if the Prototype Door Panel emblems are Reproductions, too, as they look to be the same as the ones he bought. :puzzled: I told him I would ask you, Duane, and I also asked for backside pictures of the emblems, so I'm waiting on them. :bglasses:

    Scott,
Brad's "Prototype" car still has the original emblems on the door panels. They were specially made, like his dash pad emblem. I will not go into the differences between his original emblems and the ones pictured in this thread, it would not be fair to him, and I am sure you understand my reasonings.

Brad's emblems are 2 piece, like these, and once these are mounted would look similar, but that's all.

I am sure the back sides are completely different.

:puzzled: I don't understand your reasonings, actually, Duane. What is the need for "secrecy"? Now that another replica set has appeared, Someone has obviously gone through a lot of research and development to duplicate the Prototype emblems. We're just trying to find out WHO made them, and WHY, if there's only ONE Prototype, then why are there TWO pairs of the same emblems?! :Do No:

    It's all a Mystery...

No one is going to look at the "back" sides, once they're mounted, anyway, so, technically, they could be mistaken for the Prototype emblems, to someone who doesn't know the difference! :Smarty::Do No:

I'm still waiting on pictures of the backsides, so we can find out more about them, though, maybe to get a clue of where they originated from! :bglasses:

    Scott,
In today's world anything can be reproduced. If I explained how Brad's emblems were made then someone out there would have the info to repro them exactly.

Now these emblems look somewhat close, but have definate differences, and I think, were advertised on e-bay as "Prototype" emblems, not reproductions. Where they came from, and why they were made, are questions I do not have the answers to.

If they are originals, which I question, that's one thing, If they are repro's and were sold as originals, that's something else.

Now if you still think my reasons for not stating the differences are not valid, then I am sorry but I will not go into this any further.
