    Hummmmmm

So that's why they never posted a picture of the back side. Also, it is kind of funny to see them in that sealed plastic bag, which looks like the exact same bag the repro stage 1 emblems come in from Poston, and not to mention I have NEVER seen any NOS emblems come in that nice, modern bag, ever. :Smarty:

Nice repro's though, if they were cheap enough, I'd buy a set for my tool box. :TU: :bglasses:

:bglasses: Now, I understand. That makes sense.:Dou:

It looks like someone has already attempted it, and made a nice copy, if it is. :Do No:

It's still not clear what the differences are, from looking at the Prototype Door Panel photo and these emblems photo, to the average Buick guy. You are the exception, Duane, because only you have seen the Original emblems Up Close to know the difference.

I wasn't asking You, specifically, to answer "Where" they came from or "Why" they were made, I was just stating that "Someone" made them, so "Someone" HAS to know the History behind them, and it would be interesting to find out! :TU:

I agree, and it sounds like that may be the case, here, False Advertising (selling Repros as Originals)! :Smarty:

Sorry, Duane, I wasn't trying to "challenge" you, and I now understand your reasons. Since you're the only one who has seen the Original emblems to know the difference between the copies, you're about the only one who can, which is why we asked. The guy who owns them has been asking ME about them (because he knows that I know Buicks, as well! I'm just not familiar enough with the Prototype car, as you are) which is why I've been passing the questions on to YOU.

I'll ask him not to bother, anymore, and just accept that he has a pair of Reproduction Prototype GSX emblems! :TU:

    Scott,
I did not think you were challenging me in any way. But without seeing the emblems in question, in person, I have to be careful with calling them original or repro.

At this point I know they are different, and that is all I know.

    I hope more are made...

but under the reproduction name...he shouldnt say they are the originals..we know where they are. I just want to say...when I do "clone" (I hate that word) my 72 GS 350 race car as an X, I will put GSX door panel emblems on it,they add a real classy touch and savvy X guys would not really think I had cut up a gennie. The GM Resto Parts grille emblem that is reproduced doesnt look like it would look right on a door panel....fish

Bill Bird is the guy that makes all the reproduction emblems for Year One. The only reason I know this is because I ordered an emblem from Year One and it came in wrong so they shipped me another one only to find out it was wrong again, so they gave me Bill Birds address and information regarding the incorrect emblem. I ended up buying a bunch of repo emblems from Bill at a much lower cost than Year One was charging. Good guy to know in my opinion.

    Just my .02 cents.

It's not that the auction is "back", because, evidently, the emblems are currently being reproduced, since they're being sold one pair after another! :bglasses: :Smarty:

I've been watching these auctions, and I've been Emailing the Winners, to see if they really get them, or if they're just being scammed. So far, the Winners have received their emblems and are extremely satisfied with them! :bglasses:

Here is the exact description, as taken from Ebay:
1970 - 1971 BUICK GSX DOOR PANEL EMBLEMS. 1 PAIR. EXTREMELY RARE. ORIGINALLY USED ON GM PROTOTYPE. NEVER MOUNTED. NEW. PAYMENT NEEDS TO BE MADE WITHIN 10 DAYS OF THE END OF THE AUCTION.

It does NOT say that these are "ORIGINAL" emblems, that are being sold! It SAYS: "ORIGINALLY USED" on GM Prototype, meaning that the FIRST SET was built FOR the Prototype, ONLY, but now since there are MORE THAN ONE set available, then the ones you are bidding on are NEW, and have NEVER been MOUNTED!

The only "mistake" that I see, is mentioning a 1971! The Prototype was built IN '69, built FOR '70, and into PRODUCTION BEFORE '71! So, the Prototype emblems have NO relation to '71, at all! :Do No:

It's just how you read it, as everyone can interpret it different ways!
I see no misrepresentation here, and I see nothing wrong with the whole auction, or the seller's integrity (as I am also an Ebay seller, and am familiar with listing items and their policies!) :TU:

As a matter of fact, according to the Seller of the emblems, that is NOT Brad Connelly's Prototype GSX (in the pictures on the Ebay auction)! Supposedly, it's owned by a friend of theirs, in New York (and Brad lives in Ohio, if I'm not mistaken)! The owner had his '70 Buick Skylark to be made into a Prototype "clone"!

Obviously, Brad has the REAL deal, but it looks like there are OTHER "Prototype" GSX's that have been made, too! :eek2:

Even though the reserve is around $80, there is no way it will stay at that! The first auction went for $125. :Smarty:
The second auction went for $200! :eek2:

Let's watch and see what this one gets up to! :Do No:

Since they're Prototype (reproduction) emblems, I wouldn't be surprised if they brought in NOS price, since they're only limited production, and RARE!

Anyone expect to see $600 for a Pair? That wouldn't surprise me! :Smarty:

    They are cool, though! :bglasses:

A fool and his money are soon parted.....Do your homework before you buy anything. Unless you don't care that they are reproductions.. :Do No:

I doubt anyone has copied the real prototype GS interior :spank:

If the guy selling these is in fact reproducing them, you can bet that he will continue to cast more and more of them at $200/pair. These are neat, but I would rather see time and money spent on developing parts that are actually needed by people restoring these cars.

Don't believe him for a minute. That is MY car in the photo and I can tell you where and when the photo was taken. They are not prototype emblems and not made the same as the emblems on my car. They are at best a poor rip-off.

    Mike Trom said,
"I doubt anyone has copied the real prototype GSX interior."

There was only 1 copy made from the original interior, and that is the one I did and it's installed in Brad's car. The picture also shows the prototype steering wheel, and I did that also. I can see the slight impressions from the finger grips on the front side. It took me 3 days to wrap that steering wheel, believe me, I know my work.

Now if someone is using a picture of Brad's car to sell reproduction emblems, then that's false advertisement. There are laws against this.

    Duane,

I would hardly call what you did for Brad's GSX making a copy.... Its a work of art :beer

Unless he is tring to decieve someone, why not just say that they are "new reproductions" of the original GSX door panel emblems :Do No:

    Mike,
    Thanks for the compliment.

I don't know why he is using a picture of Brad's car, if he posted a picture of the emblems themselves, all the problems would go away.

Repros or not, I can't see the Difference from the 2 pictures above! The Emblems that I posted from the first auction, and the Door Panel photo look Identical, to me! :Do No:

    In BOTH photos, I notice:

The G and the S are Red with Chrome surrounding.
The X is White with Chrome surrounding.

The G is separate, and the SX are one piece!

Am I the only one who doesn't see the optical illusion, or what? I don't see what I'm MISSING, here! :Do No:

What IS the difference, from looking at these 2 photos?

I'm not asking anyone to make a chemical analysis about the emblems, I just want to understand the Obvious differences, from the photos.

Do we agree there's a SIMILARITY, between the originals and the repros, appearancewise, anyway? :Do No:

Now that we've established that they ARE "REPRODUCTIONS", can we change the subject and just get over the "ethics" part? I don't believe the Seller is going to do anything about changing the auctions, as they continue to be reproduced and relisted! :Smarty: :Do No:

I just want a pair, as a Collectible, but didn't want to get scammed and just lose my money! Now that I know they are Available, through these auctions, I will be owning a few sets, just for Display! $80/pair is Cheap for emblems, compared to other GS emblem prices! :bglasses:
