Degreased and rinsed to see what’s left, also some factory markings on steering shaft and hood latch. These are the nicest original hinges I’ve ever seen. And like I said about how amazing the bumper is inside.
One thing that needed attention was the Battery tray and surrounding area, everything was surface corrosion fortunately, removed as much as possible with wire wheel, treated and sprayed matte black. I love original but something’s have to be fixed.
No I removed it with wire wheel and then Evaporust gel. Tray was heavily pitted but the battery sits over it so it can’t be seen anyway. The sheet metal was mostly just stained, no structural damage really which is awesome.
Glad your moving forward. No, I’m not in Arizona to do anything, Car is at my house in Missouri. Front control arm bushing and new BB springs are next, you can see the difference in height, and they have a different rate. This is snowballing fast I can feel it!
I would leave the 350 springs in it..but if you want the stiffer BB springs cut 2 coil out....they will have the nose up if you dont..especially with no AC
We did a big block swap this time last year in a 69 GS350 non a/c.We left the sb springs in car has nice stance. Chris
Absolutely gives it a nice look and transfers weight better with more stored energy....use adjustable shocks to control the energy better
I have 68-9 olds 350 springs in my 1970 GS w 455. Sits nice. 45H0045. And some tall upper ball joints to keep them wheels neutral camber
These are the trick springs from Morosso with more stored energy but less static stiffness than stock BB springs. Stage 2 Iron suggested them.
I put the Moroso springs in my 65 when I first built it. Ended up pulling them out before it even got on the road, sat way to low and they don't hold up very long on a car thats gonna see alot of street driving. I put 65 Chevelle 6 cyclinder station wagon springs in.Plenty of stored energy for wait transfer.Stance and tire clearance is also a benefit. Chris
Trying to get springs back in a car that are 2 inches taller and with no engine weight to hold down the car is a mother, but necessity is the mother of invention, wether it’s dumb or genius it worked.
I had an old boss tell me when something wasn’t going right to get it creative and get it done. Great job.
Haha and just like Alan Watts said, “ one cannot have a unique thought”, my Genius status just went out the door. At any rate maybe this method should be a sticky, spring compressors suck big time.
