I had PF kicking my butt for almost 2 years. I went to a MD, a podiatrist and PT, what started helping was one PT using dry needling ( like acupuncture) and then a second PT who really knows her stuff about feet and PF took over and set up the vasyli arch supports with extra wedges under the heel to get the relationship between my feet and ankle into the correct angle.

I was really bad, I wore the boots to bed on both feet for a year and a half, stretched all the time but if i stopped for lunch or a coffee break my feet would lock up and usually I was gimping along after 3 pm no matter what I did. After work I couldn’t do anything and the doctors recommended cutting my activity to 50% of my normal which I thought was funny because I was just barely able to finish the workday.

Ask about the dry needling and try to find someone who really understands setting up arch supports. The 300 dollar arch supports I got from the podiatrist did not help much until my physical therapist tuned them up. She did the same tune up on the vasyli arch supports and they were priced so much lower that I have 3 sets for the shoes I wear the most.

All good info here for anyone that happens to develop PF.

My best friend had $300 custom orthotics made and his podiatrist bitched him out for not having them made at ONE particular place and doctor. The set he had made at another office didn't work for him, but second set at THE recommended office did.

Go figure!

Mostly it's something that a PT would sell along with treatment. I can't and don't walk barefoot except maybe in the house some. I'm nearly always wearing running or trail running shoes. Heal pain sucks.
