The total of the estimate from Jim Earp Dodge. At this point the computer stopped as it surpassed the value of the vehicle.
Wow that sucks. But at least you got it back. It could of been worse. They usually completely trash them. Though didn't you say in the original thread there was a laps of insurance? You bitting the whole bullet for the repairs will hurt.
How the hell did they get a key?? That sounds like "I pissed someone off at my party so they stole my truck" kind of thing. Any blood on the windshield? There should be!
They make master keys for everything. There can be as little as 7 different master keys to start all the cars. I remember my uncle had the masters keys for Harley at one time and pissed off several people. Well not till after they pissed him off so he took their bike out for a ride. Course hes like 7'4" and mean. I am a runt in the family at 6'2"
Not real sure about the key thing. We think it may have been one of Kerstin's (Gregs daughter) ex loser buddies. We may have an out with Gregs insurance company. More on that later when we find out what they are going to do.
Master keys are not readily available but all you need is a VIN and you can get a key made for that particular vehicle, no questions asked. Real security measures involved here.ou: Besides, dealerships don't care. All they want is your "buck-two-ninety-eight" for the damn key!:blast:
About 10 years ago when we live in south Minneapolis, a 14 YO punk and his buddy stole our new to us Cadillac Deville (we had had it about 3 months) right from our unattached garage. Cops came knocking about 3 am and asked if we owned a blue Caddy...I said yes. He said, not anymore ! The little sh**s "Chicago punched" the ignition, backed out, took a hugh chunk out of the side of the garage and hit a tree at 45+ MPH dead center in the hood...looks like they aimed the hood ornament at the tree and wrapped the front end around it....needless to say it was totalled. However, it took weeks of fighting with the insurance company to get the fair value of the car. I have never found another car like that one...clean, low mileage and cheap luxury. We moved shortly after that incident and have never looked back.
did the insurance company accuse u of leaving the key in the ignition ? sound like your truck is a writeoff , unfortunately . i do certainly sympathize with u.
The way the truck was damaged could point to someone who knew you. did you even try to get them to finger print the truck?
A buddy of mine lost a Dakota the same way. They found it with 8 grand worth of damage and insurance never paid. I hope things work out better for you Eric.
When I last spoke the cops they told me that they were waiting for the rport to come back from the lab, so yes I believe they printed it. The stupid thing is that they won't pursue it if a match comes back. The only way anything will happen is if they catch the perp on some other charge then they will plea bargin with them to get them to confese to other crimes. The case is still active and if they find something out then they will call me.
Thats insane, someone smashes your pride and joy and all they can say is we cannot pursue them???? I'm really sorry about your truck man. I only hope that they can catch the little f***ers that did it. :af: :blast: :blast: :blast: Patrick
