I currently have a NOS 1972 penny for sale on Ebay if anyone is interested. I am hoping it brings the same as the 71 NOS grille as well as the 1970 246 Stage 1 carb that was sold.I will also include the original packaging as well in the auction..
I just checked and Year "None" has the 72 pennies..they are 56.00 dollars plus shipping and are currently on backorder. J
Early built 72's were assembled to include 1971 pennies. Please post the build date of your car and date on the penny so we can determine the cutover date to be used for judging purposes.
If you open your heater core housing, it should contain two factory installed mouse turds. They should be brownish black and have tapered ends if they're original. Again, Framingham cars contained no mouse turds. The Parts Place makes repros but they have square ends.

NOS pennies aren't worth much, unless they come with a certificate of authenticity signed by Lincoln :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: p normally they were found in Fords, as they need all the luck they can get :laugh: :laugh:
I did find a photo of an NOS '68 penny used in the Buick factories, note the convertible GS on the back. I am not sure if other years looked the same o No: No documentation came with the penny though :rant:

Mike, Since accurate documentation is not available, can you make a correct looking spec sheet for a 72 penny, showing where the mint marks are, etc? And how many were produced at each mint? I always thought 72 pennies' authenticity could be verified, as opposed to the 71's which require original paperwork...

I'm sure you all will appreciate his answer and will take steps to correct this major point deduction you may have not known about. I contacted the Sloan Museum and they do not have any documentation on any year pennys I went over 5 years worth of daily car reports and I could not find a sales code or UPC code that may help with making a spec. sheet. Hopefully some documentation will surface to help put an end to the mystery o No: What if your car was built early in the model year (before New Years), would it have gotten a previous years penny or none at all
That would be where the dreaded "Buick Penny Pincher" comes in..he's the guy that decides what penny if at all that early model gets...
Just to keep this going, and hopefully add a few laughs here, The coin mint mark would be determined by which Mint produced the coins. Coins in Wilmington built cars would have come from the Philadelphia mint, therefore they should have no mint mark. Flint cars probably had Denver "D" coins, while Fremont cars would have had either "D" or "S" mint marks, depending on the year. Therefore if the coin in question has a mint mark it would definately be a point deduction.:laugh: Duane PS. I got to get me one of Mike Trom's pennies.
