My boss is a Ford guy,and says the Shelby GT350 in 68 is the biggest dog, but brings some good $$$.We all know about the underrated cars that are out there. What cars do you think are overrated? This should be interesting. :Brow:
The Cosworth Vega. I heard so much about this car when it came out. Overhead cam engine, blah, blah, blah. What a dog.
I say Hemi cars. What the heck good is a $400.000 musclecar anyway? I got more stories to tell with a $2600 Regal than a Hemi investment car.
anything with a HEMI! What is SO special about that engine? Ok so it's rare big whoopty do! Unless you have the very early HEMI from the racing daytona's (before they were forced to DETUNE the engine!) then it's just another motor in my opinion. Although I could say the same thing about a stage 1....
'57 Chevy. Oh, don't get me wrong, there cool as hell! Infact, I'd love to own one. But @ 4000 lbs, tiny 283 cid mill, aerodynamics of an oak tree, and model-T technology suspension...
69 302 Z28  I thought I'd get the ride of my life :boring:   what a slug....... all I was thinking was...... I thought these thing where suppose to be fast :boring: :error: as far as most overrated engine .......the small block chevy gets my vote :boring: :moonu:
Since it has been brought up, I'll throw in my 2 cents. I know this is a Buick board, so I can understand the bias. Owning and driving both helps me compare the Street Hemi and the Stage 1. Even though I've only driven the Stage 1 for the last 3 weeks or so. I'll tell you theirs nothing overated "At All" about a Hemi. Its not the most desirable as far as keeping tuned for the street. But overated? I don't think so. Tell Big Daddy and Petty and the guys who have seen the checkered flag with Hemis its overated. That being said. The Stage 1 is clearly underated!! Patrick
Almost any GTO. Cool, cool cars, I'd like to have a '67 or a '70. But there's a good reason the Trans Am toppled the GTO as Pontiac's performacne model. There's a lot of hype with the GTO as far as I'm concerned, especially the Judge. I also think the non LS6 SS454 Chevelles were not as badass as their reputation by a sure sight Hemis certainly are great cars, but I'd rather have the 440+6
Ok, so I posted that, then went out to lunch... Driving back home, I see a 55 chevy with a for sale sign in the windshield. I might own one yet ou: But that sick blue smoke belchin 255 has got to go! Anyone know how to put a sbb into a shoebox chevy????
Well I think everyone has touched on the Muscle Cars that I think would be overated, but on the other hand one Muscle Car that I think has recieved a bad wrap sheet is the BOSS 429. So many people think this car was a pig, but for the love of god look at the size of the valves in the heads, they were the size of coke bottles!!! And I have seen this car involved in a Muscle Car Shootout on Speedvision a few months back and it took first place overall within the stock unmodified catagory against some cars in that era that do fit the bill also. What a hell of a car, and expensive at that, but in the end they had one buick in the shootout, and of course the Stage 1 Buick they used was an automatic convertable, not really a full blown comparison to a stick 429. Not the best matchup in the world, but I would have love to of seen them use a Stage 1 4-speed GSX hardtop, then things just might have changed a bit. :3gears:
Depends on what you mean. As a car or as a collectors item? Personally if you're at a cruise in and there a re a ton of a particular car (Mustangs, Corvettes,Chevelles) then they are over rated.
