Sooo I wiped two cam lobes off on the old lunati vooodoo cam!:puzzled: :puzzled: Seems weird that there were what three of us running the same cam and low and behold we each wiped lobes!!!

Why is this the old crappy comp 268 I had was fine!I called lunati they will warranty the cam but I gave them an earfull I guess you could say.Because the only three sbb i know that were running the same cam all lost lobes and I was like "wtf you guys dont take pride in making buick cams because its not a chevy!?!?!?!?!?!?!"Lol the tech guy said no and he apologized for the failure.

But anywho **** happens I now have the 268h cam back in the engine and it makes me:ball: :ball:

So here we go what cam to try now?!?! I was in the 12's with the lunati I was gonna try out a crower cam the same one craig has i think its 50259 is the part number.I was looking at the Ta 310 or the 413 they look good spec wise but I have read that you need valve releifs on the piston I dont have those so yea what oil pressure should I be at at idle and cruising and wot?

Ummm I used rotella t and the comp cam break in additive and they said to take the inner spring out on break in.They said to use those oils then I run royal purple 10w-30.

You STILL need to add ZPPD (or another high zinc product) for the cam/lifters at every oil change... unless you had a roller cam.:Dou:

I really like the crower cam, but I don't have much to compare it to besides a smaller crower cam that I had prior. Idles great, slight lope. I get alot of comments about the 'big block sound' but it probably has alot to do with the headers and 3" exhaust. I'd give the crower a chance, you will like it!

I have a TA-413 cam in my 350 and do not have valve reliefs in my piston.
I run stock rockers if you run roller rockers you might be ok i had aboat .015
of extra room on the intake valve.

    What is your compression ratio?

It is so sad with this 268h cam in here it makes me want to cry like a child:ball: :ball:

On another note what is considered good oil pressure at cruise and idle.I think my guage is messed up or I got an internal problem.

Most people know that I do not often suggest wild cams for 350s BUT.... Your car is begging for a huge cam.

I vote for this solid Custom Crower cam:

    Lobe center 108
    Advertised Duration 284 / 304
    Duration at .050 240 / 250
    Lift 512 / 512

It is wild but you have the converter and build to make it work I bet.... And when you get your heads ported it would really fly!!! Go big or go home!

Everyone is pissed off because no one is making parts for the 350 and when someone does and has a problem with it they get an ear full. It would be smart to try to help them to fix their product and not scream at them. Just food for thought when you guys wonder why no one wants to step up to the plate and make parts.

There goes the power brakes!:3gears: Now how would I adjust the valve lash??Like on a pontiac or ford engine?

It is funny because I called crower today and the tech guy suggested a cam like this if i didnt mind doin some adjustment on it.I also called comp cams and talked to them for awhile about cams they kept saying try the big mutha thumpr and I could use the springs I have on the heads allready.I will be calling Ta tommorrow and inquiring about the 413 and the need for valve releifs on the pistons.I should be getting another voodoo cam here in a couple of days.

My oil pressure is 40 cruising around town but then I come to a stop it dips to about 12psi.

This sucks lol because I would have been at the track today!  Trying out a holley 850 mech secondarys and 4.10's!!!!! :blast: :blast: :blast:

All I want to know is how does the car actually run with the smaller 268 cam? Did you run this cam before in the exact same condition lately? ET/MPH please. This could be a good experiment to see what a smaller cam actually costs in performance. Since it is in you may as well go racing.

Well I guess its not like I was like I was like "hey you stupid facks you idiots my grandmother with one eye and arm could grind a better cam than what you fools are making for the sbb!!!"

I just let them know that it was odd that three cams in three almost the same engines except two had roller rockers and I think one had dual springs all wiped a lobe on the same side and that they should put more effort into making ure there buick parts are just as good as there chevy parts.

But I reckon it was my fault by not putting in the extra zinc stuff.BUT like I said before **** happens just gonna go with something else to try and hit 12.5

Well I will post my current setup for all of the small block bretheren and the occasional BBB who comes snooping around in our part of the neighborehood:Brow: To see the difference between the lunati 67003 and the comp 268h and to save people from searching my previous posts.

    So anywho here goes:
1972 Buick skylark 72 350 bored .40 know in my other posts I said 30 over but I recently found the paperwork from the machine shop so I apologize.73 rods 10:1 pistons 20thou taken off the heads and gasket match porting nothing fancy and oversized valves, comp cams springs lifters and pushrods.Full mallory igniton TA intake 800cmf Q-jet.The cams have allready been said.Hooker super comp heads really ****ty differnt sized x-pipe and flowmaster 50 series.

Th350 trans with 3000 stall converter and B&M transkit built to the drag specs, also new hard parts thrust washers planetary gears, hardened sprag race.B&m transbrake also!

Gears in the rear had 3.73's for a while I recentley just switched to 4.10s.Yukon gears with a gm carrier.Tires are just some drag radials I dont know the sizes offhand I allways forget:Do No: .

Sooo with the 3.73's and the lunati cam and Q-jet my best time was a 12.87.

I have two passes with the comp 268h I ran in the low 16's but this was also with a holley 630 carb and no transbrake.

I will be running either this weekend or next wednesday the 268 cam with the 3.73's and the q-jet then the q-jet and 4.10s THEN lol after that a holley 850 and 3.73's and 4.10s

Pheww:boring: lol So thats for anyone who did not know my build and also what I will be testing lol.Take care Russ!:3gears: :3gears: :3gears:
